The Thunder Crossbow build is efficient at handling multiple enemies.

The Thunder Crossbow build is efficient at handling multiple enemies.

This build utilizes the power of the Thundering Quiver artifact by using the Multishot enchantment with the scatter type of crossbows. The way it works is that Thundering Quiver triggers for each arrow in a single shot. So the more arrows that are released, the better Thundering Quiver is utilized.

This build will allow you to dish out massive area of effect damage that can quickly clean up mobs and bosses. This is one of the most efficient playstyles in Minecraft Dungeons.

Pros

  • High damage.
  • Massive AOE (area of effect).
  • Scatter crossbow type can deal heavy damage in melee.

Cons

  • Enemies with deflect enchantment can instantly kill you.
  • The build is squishy.

Ranged Weapon

The ranged weapon of choice is a crossbow for its ability to fire continuously. Since the goal of the build is to fire more arrows per shot, the scatter type of crossbows is the best choice.

Ranged Weapon Options

  • Harpy Crossbow: This is the most recommended weapon for this build. Harpy Crossbow by default releases five arrows per shot. But the weapon doesn't stop with five arrows. With Multishot and other related enchantments, the weapon can fire more arrows. This means that Harpy Crossbow's damage is devastating with Thundering Quiver.
  • Scatter Crossbow: This is the easiest to obtain weapon for this build. The weapon can fire three arrows per shot.
  • Lightning Harp Crossbow: The name of this weapon suits this build. The weapon can fire three arrows per shot with a chance to ricochet, allowing it to hit more enemies.

Ranged Weapon Enchantment

A perfect enchantment combination is having Multishot, Chain Reaction, and Ricochet at the same time. But since enchantment choices in the game are random, here are some recommended enchantments you should aim for.

Ranged Weapon Enchantments Options

  • Multishot: This is the most recommended enchantment for ranged weapons on this build. All kinds of crossbows can fire more arrows with this enchantment. And these extra arrows can trigger the Thundering Quiver's effect. The chance of triggering the effect at max tier is 40%.
  • Chain Reaction: This enchantment can multiply more arrows, which also multiplies damage to mobs. The chance of multiplying arrows at max tier is 30%.
  • Ricochet: At max tier, you get a 60% chance for an arrow to ricochet, which will hit more enemies.
  • Bonus Shot: Allows you to fire an extra arrow in a different direction to the nearest enemy. The chance to trigger Bonus Shot is 24% at max tier.
  • Piercing: This enchantment lets your fired arrows pierce through. Every arrow will pierce at max tier.
  • Infinity: This is useful at the beginning of your run to avoid running out of arrows.

Artifacts

Thundering Quiver is crucial for this build. For best results, use two Thundering Quiver artifacts for this build.

But since artifact drops are random, you need to have other options to choose from.

Artifact Options

  • Thundering Quiver: As I have mentioned, this is the most important artifact for this build. It makes each of your arrows electrified. This allows them to deal extra damage and hit multiple enemies. The more arrows that you can release at once, the better. This will allow you to hit more enemies.
  • Boots of Swiftness: This will increases your movement speed, which is crucial for any build that focuses on ranged damage.
  • Ghost Cloak: This grants Ghost Form, which increases your movement speed and defense. It will also let you walk through enemies. This is your best defense-based artifact.
  • Fireworks Arrow: This is a good alternative while you're waiting for Thundering Quiver to drop. This artifact triggers for each arrow you release as well, so it works well for a scatter crossbow.

Armor

The properties that will benefit for this build is ranged damage, artifact cooldown, and movespeed aura. A plus to arrows per bundle is also good, but it's not a priority.

Armor Options

  • Archer's Armor: This should be your first choice of armor. It offers 30% ranged damage and 15% movespeed aura, which is a good combination for a ranged character.
  • Hunter's Armor: This is a normal variant, but it still works well for this build. It's good for starters since unique items like Archer's Armor are difficult to find.
  • Guard's Armor: What makes Guard's Armor a good choice is its -40% artifact cooldown, This will help you when you use Thundering Quiver.

Properties from in-game description.

Armor Enchantment

The two most important enchantments are Lightning Focus for increasing damage and Cool Down for Thundering Quiver's availability. Since enchantments are randomly dropped, you will need other choices that work with this build.

Armor Enchantment Options

  • Lightning Focus: This will greatly increase the damage of Thundering Quiver. At max tier, the lightning damage increase is +75%. If you're lucky enough to get items with more than one Lightning Focus, you'll deal more damage.
  • Cool Down: At max tier, this reduces the cooldown of your artifacts by 38%, which will ensure the availability of your Thundering Quiver.
  • Cowardice: You get +40% increase in damage at max tier as long as you're at full health. This works well for a range type play style that rarely takes damage compared to a melee type.
  • Speed Synergy: Combine this with Boots of Swiftness or Ghost Cloak to get better movement speed.
  • Health Synergy: This enchantment works well with Cowardice and Cool Down.

How About Melee Weapons?

You'll still be needing a good melee weapon since you will have to deal with mobs that have deflect enchantment. It's also important in case you run out of arrows.

It's up to you on what kind of melee weapon you want to use. If you have a Lightning Focus enchantment, get a Thundering enchantment since it will benefit from it. This build focuses on dealing lightning damage anyway. You should also consider getting a Stormlander.
