Unlocking a Necramech

Necramechs are a vehicle equipment type that use Arch-guns and some of their own unique weaponry and skills. Overall, they're not too dissimilar for an Archwing, except they stay on the ground. In short, they are a heavy robotic exoskeleton similar to a Warframe, but in the lore, they predate them.

Unlocking a Necramech requires a handful of steps:

  1. Complete the Heart of Deimos Quest. It's a fairly short quest aimed at introducing the open area Cambion Drift, which is essential the infested variant of the Landscape open world areas such as the Plains of Eidolon. This will give you full access to the Necralisk area where you typical town activities such as bounties.
  2. Visit Loid in Necralisk to participate in the Necraloid Syndicate. You'll need to use Operator mode to open the door (refer to the screenshot below).
  3. Earn standing in the Necraloid Syndicate by trading in Orikin Matrices.
  4. Earn Orikin Matrices by defeating enemy Necramechs or doing Isolation Vault Bounties via Mother, also found in Necralisk.
  5. Reach at least the rank of "Modus" which will require a few other resources covered in the next section.

As soon as you've earned enough standing, you can purchase the blueprints to craft Necramechs. From Loid you can get the blueprints for the Bonewidow and the Voidrig Necramechs.

The Necraloid Syndicate Rank Up

Earning standing in the Necraloid Syndicate is complicated enough, but you'll also need to rank up at least twice to actually be able to purchase the necessary blueprints from Loid. To reach the first rank up, you'll need:

  1. 5,000 Standing.
  2. 10 Orokin Orientation Matrices earned from doing Isolation Vault Bounties with Mother, often dropping in T1.
  3. 150 Void Trades that may drop in Isolation Vault Bounties but are easier to earn in Void Fissure Missions.
  4. Zymos Barrel Blueprint purchasable from Father via Entrati Standing.
  5. 20 Father Tokens earned by exchanging basic Cambion Drift resources with Father.

The second rank up to "Modus" requires:

  1. 22,000 Standing.
  2. 15 Orikin Ballistics Matrices earned from doing Isolation Vault Bounties with Mother, often dropping in T2.
  3. 250 Void Traces that may drop in Isolation Vault Bounties but are easier to earn in Void Fissure Missions.
  4. Sepulcrum Barrel Blueprint purchasable from Father via Entrati Standing.
  5. 20 Father Tokens earned by exchanging basic Cambion Drift resources with Father.

Depending on your luck with the drops, getting enough standing and prerequisites to purchase all the necessary blueprints is no small task. It will likely take more than a few hours. Reaching Modus will give you access to purchase all blueprints necessary for Voidrig, while you'll need to go one step further for Bonewidow.

Crafting a Necramech

While most resources necessary to craft all the parts for the first Necramech will be obtained passively just by playing in the Cambion Drift, there are a handful that require specific attention.

  • Venerdo Alloy crafted from Venerol mined from red minerals on Orb Vallis.
  • Marquise Veridos crafted from Veridos mined from blue minerals on the Plains of Eidolon.
  • Isos farmed in Railjack missions, often on Earth Proxima Railjack missions.
  • Charc Eelctroplax acquired by cutting up Charc Eels caught fishing on the Plains of Eidolon.
  • Pyrol used to craft Tempered Bapholite mined from red minerals on the Plains of Eidolon.
  • Travoride used to craft Thaumic Distillate mined from red minerals on Orb Vallis.

(Tip: Travoride and Venerol may drop in the containers surrounding Fortuna. There are often 4-5 that spawn and 1-2 will have rich drop tables containing fishing and mining parts)

All other components come from the Cambion Drift itself, but will require:

  • Damaged Necramech parts dropped by killing Necramechs.
  • Scintillant found as a rare resource in Isolation Vault Bounties.
  • Resources crafted by mining ores in the Cambion Drift.
  • Resources gained by fishing in the Cambion Drift.

Many of these resources you can accrue passively as storage containers throughout the map may drop ore or fishing materials.

Voidrig Weapon Pod

Be mindful that many resources required to craft the Voidrig may require you to do various tasks, even outside of the Cambion Drift!

Upgrading a Necramech

Naturally you'll want to make your fighting robot as powerful as it can be which of course requires a line of Necramech specific mods. Some mods can also be purchased from Loid in the Necraloid Syndicate similar to the blueprints. Other mods, particularly the more valuable ones, can be found in Isolation Vault bounties or by defeating Deimos Jugulus.

You can also equip your Necramech with any Arch-gun. This includes a few new ones that can be purchased from the Necraloid Syndicate. This means you'll benefit from any existing Arch-gun mods and ranks you've already accumulated but it may be time to head back to Archwing missions to accrue some more mods!

Final Thoughts

Unsurprisingly, the powerful fighting robot exoskeleton comes with a long chain of quests to unlock it. However, the Necramech represents more than just some added Mastery Points, it's also both fun to use and quite useful. It's also a nice touch that it takes Arch-guns so you get some more use out of any time you spend investing in that often underwhelming area of the game. Overall, a nice meaty addition to the game and certainly not unwelcomed.
