1. Xenominer

Based on a sci-fi environment, Xenominer is the perfect substitute for Subnautica. It features a unique combination of elements from the sandbox and survival genres. Your character is the lone survivor on an alien planet. You need to keep yourself alive at any cost. Your objective is to stay away from aliens during the day. At night, however, you go out for scavenger hunts. You have to collect various items to survive on that planet.

From building your base to killing aliens, this game offers a lot to everyone. You can explore various parts of your map at night. Make sure you pass all the levels smoothly to continue surviving. 2. FarSky

Many people think that FarSky is the sequel of Subnautica. Want to know why? Because both belong to the same genre—aquatic-themed survival game. FarSky takes this genre to a different level altogether. It starts with your ship crashing into an ocean. You somehow come out of your ship. But there are bigger challenges waiting. And each one of those challenges can take your life. How will you survive?

You need to use your ship’s broken parts and various other materials to keep yourself alive. Every stage of FarSky has an exciting twist, making the game more interesting. Your character needs to be alert all the time, especially while collecting things. There are dangerous marine creatures waiting to devour you as soon as you make a mistake.

3. Miasmata

Miasmata is another thrilling survival game like Subnautica with an incredible storyline. You have to protect yourself and an island from a deadly virus. The game starts with your character stranded on an island. You don’t see anyone anywhere. A voice-over describes the fatal virus that has already taken most of the lives in this island. You need to solve various puzzles and participate in adventure games to survive.

This is a gem of a game when it comes to suspense thrillers. There are twists at every level, making the game more challenging. If you loved Subnautica and played it more than once, this is another game that gives you the same feeling.

4. Endless Ocean

As the name implies, Endless Ociean is an underwater game, with gameplay very close to Subnautica. Your character has to deal with various factors, such as dangerous marine creatures, rewards to help you survive, and creating your base. It has both single-player and multiplayer options. Your character gets submerged in water right at the start of the game. From there on, you need to survive according to your survival instincts.

Unlike other survival games, Endless Ocean gives you basic tutorials so that you can understand the game better. It helps you explore marine life efficiently. There are more than two hundred sea creatures, most of which will try to kill you. Try to get upgrades to kill them quickly.

5. Planet Explorers

Planet Explorers follows an adventure role-playing style, pretty much like Subnautica. You are a wanderer in a strange island full of unique animals. You come across these animals as you start exploring the island. However, all animals won’t kill you. There are a few that you need to train and colonize. The game takes place in a futuristic world where you land on the island after a massive crash.

Your only hope of survival is exploring different locations and collecting items to build your base. From killing strange animals to farming with the ones you look after, this game will take you places. The graphics and background sound are excellent. Moreover, the chase sequences look incredibly realistic.

The "Long Dark" will give you the creeps.

6. The Long Dark

Want to play a survival game in a non-human-friendly environment? Start playing The Long Dark. It will take your breath away. It shares many similarities with Subnautica but it's extremely eerie; not for the faint-hearted. The game starts with your ship crashing in an unknown place. Your journey starts as soon as you come out of your ship.

The immersive landscapes and first-person perspective makes this game more exciting. You will discover new worlds while exploring different parts of your map. Every stage provides you with unique challenges that you need to solve correctly. You can play two modes in this game: sandbox and story. Both are equally interesting. Your journey will include quests to find wood, food, water, and various other things, essential for your survival.

7. Underwater Adventure

This game is visually similar to Subnautica. The gameplay also has many similarities. Underwater Adventure gives you a more realistic feeling of aquatic life. It has many genres combined in a single game, including puzzle elements, adventure, action, and underwater exploration. You only have a single-player mode, thus giving you an immersive feeling. The aquatic world has tons of places to explore. You need to follow your map carefully to avoid dangerous areas and collect items for your survival.

This game has treasure hunts at different levels. With adventure at its core, Underwater Adventure keeps its promise of keeping players entertained. You can spend hours surfing underwater to collect rewards and valuable items that allow you to survive. Make sure you have your weapons ready because sea creatures can attack anytime.

"Abzu" is visually stunning.

8. Abzu

There is always something thrilling about aquatic life-based games. Like Subnautica, Abzu delves into various adventures deep into the ocean. You have to explore different areas, and keep yourself alive. This mystery-filled game will keep you at your heels all the time. Although it is an underwater game, it has enough action sequences where enemies will surround you. You have to use your brain and skill to escape from the jaws of death. Make sure you gather enough rewards to build the ultimate weapon that can destroy your enemies.

Abzu allows you to choose your favorite character before diving into the ocean. Thanks to its single-player gameplay, you can focus on exploring different parts of the ocean to find unique marine life. However, don’t go close to anything you see. They may be death traps luring you to end your life. Abzu has brilliant graphics. It will make you feel as if you are scuba diving. Plus, the slow music track with the sound of waves makes for an immersive experience.

9. Depth Hunter

Subnautica allows you to explore an underwater open-world where you have to survive attacks from various marine creatures. Depth Hunter takes this concept up a notch. The game starts with your character fall deep into an ocean. This is your world now. You have to hunt sea creatures as soon as they come your way. But how will you hunt them when you don’t have any weapon? That’s when you find your first map. It will show you the different locations that you need to explore.

Find out clues from various locations, collect rewards, develop your weapon, and combat sea predators. You can also upgrade your weapon now and then, but you have to pass challenging levels first. From treasure hunts to intense underwater chases sequences, this game has everything. Depth Hunter has twenty levels. But every level gets tougher as you acquire more power and upgrade your weapons. The detailed graphics, together with a descriptive storyline, make it easier for you to play Depth Hunter better. This is another game that you may want to play multiple times due to its challenging levels.
