Mob of The Dead, Alcatraz Easter Egg, Pop Goes The Weasel - Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Zombies

The main Easter Egg in Alcatraz is called Pop Goes the Weasel. In order to complete this you must complete various steps that will lead to a brawl on the bridge. This Easter Egg breaks new ground in two ways. First, it puts players against each other, causing them to fight to the death. It also introduces the first zombie map that can have a victorious ending.

This Easter Egg is relatively easy because the majority of the steps are tasks that many players do every game.

The Easter Egg Steps:

  1. Get Hell's Retriever
  2. Collect the Crystal Skulls
  3. Take the Blundergat from the Table
  4. Upgrade the Blundergat using the Acid Gat Kit
  5. Build the Plane
  6. Fly the Plane to the Bridge
  7. Get the Golden Spork
  8. Fly the Plane to the Bridge
  9. Upgrade the Acid Gat using Pack-A-Punch
  10. Fly the Plane to the Bridge
  11. Enter the four prisoner numbers in the Combo Switch
  12. Collect the Audio Files
  13. Go into Afterlife
  14. Fly the Plane to the Bridge
  15. Fight to the Death

The First Steps for Pop Goes The Weasel

I broke the Easter Egg into 15 steps. It looks overwhelming at first glance. But, most of the steps involve tasks that provide powerful weapons. They should be the priority during the early rounds of every game you play.

This article is not going to go into detail on the first 10 steps. Step by step guides for those tasks are linked in the list of steps above.

You do not need to do all of the first 10 steps in order or wait until one is complete to move on to the next step. I often feed the beast and collect the plane parts at the same time. I also listed collecting the skulls before I build the plane. If you know the locations of the Crystal Skulls you can collect them without flying to the Plane. However, you will need to get Hell's Retriever before you can collect the skulls, or get the Golden Spork. You will also need to fly to the bridge at least one time in order to get the Golden Spork.

I am not certain that you will need to upgrade the Acid Gat during the second trip to the Bridge. I did this when I completed the Easter Egg and many other players seem to think that it has to be upgraded during this trip. I am going to attempt to do this without upgrading the Acid Gat. I will update this article when I have a solid answer.

Enter The Prisoner Numbers

You will need to fly to the Bridge at least 3 times in order for you to be able to enter the prisoners numbers.

After you have completed the first ten steps you can enter the prisoner numbers in the combo switch. This is the same device that you entered the numbers in order pick up the rigging for the plane. The numbers on the Combo Switch will be rotating quickly if you completed the previous steps correctly.

When you finished entering the final number the screen should change from color to black and white. The first audio recording of the Alcatraz Story will also start to play.

Steps for Entering the Prisoner Numbers

  1. Go into Afterlife at the top of the spiral stairs in the Citadel Tunnels.
  2. Enter the first prisoner number into the Combo Switch by shooting electricity.
  3. If you entered this correctly the number should change shortly after you finish.
  4. Repeat this action with the other three prisoner numbers.

The Four Prisoner Numbers

  1. 101
  2. 872
  3. 386
  4. 481

  • Have a player partially revive you in order to stay in Afterlife for a longer period of time.
  • You do not need to add all four numbers in the same afterlife.
  • The same player does not need to add all four numbers, but can if the player is able.
  • When you finished entering the final number the screen should turn to black and white, and you will start to hear a recording of the Alcatraz Story.

Collect The Audio Files

There are five audio files that you will need to pick up. Each will play a portion of the Alcatraz Story. The next audio file will not appear until the previous file has finished playing. The screen will return to full color as soon as a file ends. When you pick up a new file it will return to black and white. You will need to collect these files in the order listed below.

Audio File Locations

  1. The steps leading from the spiral starway to the top level of the Citadel Tunnels.
  2. In the center of the room that has Double Tap.
  3. In the center of the Cell Blocks. On the same floor as the wolf head. Right after the steps that lead to the wolf head from the Warden's Office.
  4. In the Infirmary directly in front of the door that allows access from the top floor of the Cell Blocks.
  5. In the doorway that leads to the Roof.
  6. Roof Doorway

Flying to the Bridge

In order to complete the Easter Egg all four players will need to fly to the Bridge while in Afterlife. However, only one player will need to initially go into Afterlife and activate the takeoff sequence. Once this player does this the other three players will instantly enter Afterlife and appear on the plane.

The plane will again crash into the Bridge and you ghosts will plummet to the ground below. You will then need to locate your body. It will be strapped to an electric chair. Revive yourself and get ready to fight.

Completing Pop Goes the Weasel

There are two possible endings for this Easter Egg. The ending depends on the fate of Weasel. At this point Weasel has to try to kill the other three players. The other three players will need to try to kill Weasel. This sounds very one sided, but Weasel has some help. Lots of zombies and the Security Guard will spawn onto the bridge shortly after you arrive. The zombies will not go after or inflict damage to Weasel. They will attack and injure the other three players.

You will receive the same Achievement regardless of the outcome. The only difference is the text that appears on the screen at the end.

  • If Weasel wins the text will say - You Broke the Cycle
  • If Weasel dies the text will state - The Cycle Continues...

What you need to know

  • The Acid Gat and Hell's Retriever are not very effective against other players during the last step.
  • The Golden Spork and strong upgraded guns are effective.
  • You can do this Easter Egg without the support of the other players. Each step can be done individually.
  • This ends your game. You can not continue to go for high rounds.
  • The dates in the story do not line up with actual events. It states they were executed in January 1934, but Alcatraz Prison opened in August 1934.

Were the numbers spinning around when you approached the dial? If not, then you may have incorrectly completed a step.

If they are then I am not sure why it would not work. I have done it a dozen times with the numbers I posted.

If the numbers aren't spinning then you haven't flown to the bridge a total of 3 times, which is a step that this guide forgets to specify.

Thanks for pointing that out Christopher King, I added that to the guide.

Mark, you are wrong. You only need to go to the bridge a total of 3 times. I have completed this Easter egg many times, and it's worked every time
