Best LMG in "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2"
The LSAT LMG is the best gun in its class in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. It is unlocked at level 13 and is the third unlocked LMG in the game. Like most LMG's, the LSAT is stronger than most other weapons but at a loss of mobility. The size of the gun makes your player slower moving and bringing the gun up to aim. However, once the gun is up and ready to fire, it usually takes minimal shots to take down an enemy. Where other LMG's lack ability in one area or another, the LSAT is pretty even across the board. You get about the same amount of mobility, accuracy, damage, and range. This, I believe, plays in the LSAT's favor as it is moderately—to highly—effective in any situation, compared to other LMG's at least. Whatever shortcomings this weapon has as combined with your playstyle can be lessened through the use of appropriate perks and attachments.
For me, the choice came down to the HAMR or LSAT. The HAMR is better suited for a rusher in terms of mobility as it is lighter and you can move/aim faster with it. However, I found that the LSAT was just so powerful at all distances that I played better with it with the help of perks/attachments. Unlike the HAMR, the LSAT quickly jumped to the very top of my weapon KDR's.
Below, I will lay out a table and a more in-depth description of my class setup and why it fits with my playstyle. If you are not typically a rusher like me, feel free to substitute any of the attachments, perks, wildcards, and equipment you'd like until you find what works best for you and the way you play the game. Quickdraw, Silencer, Reflex Sight
Perk 1 Greed, Primary Gunfighter
Since I am a rusher and like to run around, it is critical for me to improve the LSAT's and my player's mobility. I also believe that I can do better with an improved single gun than having more guns or grenades. That is why I don't use secondary grenades and concentrate on perks and attachments. I improve the weapon's mobility by adding a Quickdraw attachment so the gun can be aimed faster. I also add a silencer so I can be undetected by the enemy when firing and a reflex sight because it is easier for me to aim and track targets with. I use the Primary Gunfighter wildcard so that I can use 3 attachments.
For perks, I use Lightweight and Hardline for perk 1 so I can move and get scorestreaks faster. I use the wildcard Perk 1 Greed so I can use two perks in the perk 1 slot. My Perk 2 slot has toughness, which allows me to keep a lock on a target while I'm taking damage. It basically reduces flinch. Finally, Dexterity is my Perk 3 perk. It allows me to bring my gun up faster after sprinting or climbing.
As you can see, almost everything I use is to make up for the lack of mobility of the LSAT. I think of it as trying to turn the LSAT into a more powerful assault rifle by reducing its deficiencies compared to assault rifles. If you are a rusher, I think you will find that this class setup will work perfectly for you. Otherwise, the class slots can be customized to whatever you'd like as long as it's within the create-a-class system's limits. The power and range of this class helped me regularly achieve high scorestreaks and bumped up my KDR and PPM quite a bit.
