How to Upgrade the Wonder Weapon to Ice in "CoD: Black Ops Zombies: Die Maschine"
Outside of my day job as a project manager for a construction company, I am an avid gamer with a great passion for "Call of Duty."
The D.I.E. Cryo-Emitter upgrade changes this wonder weapon so it shoots a stream of ice. The steps are relatively easy and can be completed in early levels. Follow the quick steps below or scroll down to see them explained in detail.
Quicksteps:
- Turn on Power and Build Pack-a-Punch
- Get the D.I.E. Shockwave
- Get Megaton to Radiate Fungus (Can Happen Before Step 2 or After 4)
- Collect The Empty Flask
- Fill The Flask with Radiation
- Melt The Chains
Note: This is a necessary step for completing the Die Maschine Easter Egg.
Step 1: Turn on the Power and Build Pack-a-Punch
Turning on the power requires enough essence to open the doors to the power button. To build Pack-a-Punch you will need to activate two terminals, get a part, and build it onto the machine. There is an on screen indicator that will direct you to the next step as you complete each one. Select this link for a step by step guide on how to turn on the power and activate the Pack-a-Punch machine.

Turning on Power will open up additional areas and give you the ability to activate the terminals.

Step 2: Get the D.I.E. Shockwave
You will need to kill Megaton in order to get the key card. The key card is needed to get the D.I.E. Remote. During this step you can get Megaton to shoot the fungus, which is needed in a future step. Use the remote to turn on the weapon. Once on, the weapon will need to fill up with zombies before you can use it to blow the door open. Select this link for a step by step guide on how to get the D.I.E. Shockwave.
Step 3: Get Megaton to Radiate Fungus
This step can be completed before you Kill Megaton in step 2. There is a tree between the Pond and the Crash Site that has fungus growing on it at about head height. Stand near this when Megaton appears in order to get him to shoot radiation at you, causing part of the radiation to hit the fungus. This can also be done by Megaton Bomber and Megaton Blaster. When done correctly the fungus will turn purple and it will trigger a radio transmission.
Step 4: Collect the Empty Flask
The empty flask is in a wooden crate sitting on the top of Nacht der Untoten. You can see it on the edge of the wall when looking up at the building while in the Pond. It is to the right of the Blue Tarp. Shoot the crate with the D.I.E. Shockwave, causing it to fall onto the ground below and break into pieces. The empty flask will pop out of the box and be available to pick up.

Make sure you don't use all your ammo before this step. But if you do you can refill it with zombies.

Step 5: Fill the Flask with Radiation
Approach the radiated fungus with the empty flask in your inventory. Press your activate button and the flask will be placed at the base of the fungus. Once there it will start to fill with radiated fluid one drop at a time. This will take several minutes to fill, so you can do something else while you are waiting. I normally use this opportunity to go get the bottle for the Nova 5 upgrade.
When the flask is full, it will be blue. Pick it up and it will be added to everyone's inventory.
Step 6: Melt the Chains
Go to the Medical Bay. There is a chest against the wall on the same level as the Speed Cola Machine. It is near the door leading to the Particle Accelerator. Approach it and press your activate button. The contents of the flask will pour on the chains, dissolving them. When the chains pop you can approach the chest and collect your upgrade.
