Outside of my day job as a project manager for a construction company, I am an avid gamer with a great passion for "Call of Duty."
You will need to complete these steps in order to upgrade the D.I.E Shockwave to the D.I.E. Electrobolt and the D.I.E. Thermosphasic. These steps are also needed to complete the Die Maschine Easter Egg. The quick steps below lay out what needs to be done, scroll down to see the steps in detail.
- Turn on Power and build the Pack-a-Punch
- Get the D.I.E. Shockwave
- Upgrade to the D.I.E. Nova 5
- Upgrade to the D.I.E. Cryo-Emitter
- Build The Aetherscope
- Get The Diary
- Get The Password
- Activate Doctor Vogel's Computer
Step 1: Build the Aetherscope
There are three parts that make up the Aetherscope. They can only be seen and obtained while in the Dark Aether.
- They can always be found in the same location, but only appear one at a time.
- The order of their appearance changes every game.
- All three parts have a green outline, which makes them stand out in the Dark Aether.
You have limited time since you need to be in the Dark Aether to find these parts, but you can enter as many times as you need to. Any player can pick these up to add them to the inventory of all the players.
Note: Every time you pick up a part, Plaguehounds will appear. You can start this step before finishing upgrading the wonder weapon, so picking up a part will give you the Plaugehounds you need for the Nova 5 upgrade.
The first part can be found in the Crash Site. It is on the engine of the largest part of the crashed plane.
The possible second location for the Aetherscope part is in the Particle Accelerator. In is on a landing on the outer platform in the area between the entrance to the Medical Bay and the Weapons Lab.

The possible third location is in the Yard, which is the area you first spawn in. It is under the concrete steps leading up to a blocked off section of Nacht Der Untoten. This part is not box shaped like the other two parts.
Take the parts back to the Particle Accelerator after you have collected all three. Take it to the bottom level and approach the workbench. Press your activate button to build the Aetherscope. Once built pick it up.
Step 2: Get the Diary
Take the Aetherscope back to the Medical Bay and up to the top floor. There is an Anomaly on the landing. Enter the Anomaly, and go into the office nearby. In the office, there is a desk with a computer on it. Next to the computer will be Dr. Vogel's Diary. Approach the diary and press your action button. You will pick it up.
Picking up the diary often triggers a Megaton to spawn in. You can use your D.I.E. wonder weapon to kill him quickly, or try to avoid him while you finish the next steps.
Step 3: Get the Password
There are three letters to the password. In order to get the three letters, you will need to visit three ghosts. Each will give you one of the letters. You must be in the Dark Aether to see the Ghosts and you will have to go to each in order. You will first approach the spectral anomaly and activate it, a ghost will appear. Activate the ghost to hand him the diary, and he will start speaking. You can leave as soon as he starts speaking and go to the next ghost. If you wait for them to talk, then you will run out of time and need to re-enter the Dark Aether after killing enough zombies to bring it back.
The first ghost can be found in the Medical bay on the ground floor, below the area where the Anomaly appeared. It is near the Speed Cola machine. Approach the ball of light and activate it to have the ghost appear.
The second ghost is in the control room, behind some equipment. It is on the right when standing in the Control Room and looking towards the trial machine.
The third Spectral Anomaly is back in the Particle Accelerator room, in front of the work bench where you built the Aetherscope.
Step 4: Activate Doctor Vogel's Computer
Go back to the Medial Bay and to the computer next to where Dr. Vogel's Diary was laying. Press your action button to enter the password. Once entered the system will tell you there is not enough power. This leads to the next step, upgrading the wonder weapon to the D.I.E. Electrobolt.
