How to Complete the Main Easter Egg in Die Maschine for "CoD: Black Ops Cold War: Zombies"

Outside of my day job as a project manager for a construction company, I am an avid gamer with a great passion for "Call of Duty."

The Main Easter Egg in Die Maschine starts with turning on the power and ends with a chopper ride off the map. Like the Easter Egg in Mob of the Dead for Black Ops 2, completing this will end the game. There are 13 steps, and many of the steps include multiple mini-steps. See the outline of steps below. It will give you a fast reference to the steps and their order. Steps 1-7 have separate articles that will guide you through the steps, along with a quick summary in the paragraphs below. Steps 8-13 will be described in detail in the following sections.

Note: The Zombie Dance Easter Egg is not a step in the Main Easter Egg. But I will normally compete it between steps 1 and 2, to get the free Juggernog and gun.

Step 1: Turn on the Power and Activate Pack-a-Punch

Turning on the power is as easy as opening 6 doors from the Yard, through Nacht Der Untoten, to the crash site, into the Tunnel, to the Weapons Lab, into the Particle Accelerator, and into the power room to push a button. To build Pack-a-Punch activate two terminals, then find and install the machine part in the Dark Aether. Step 2: Get the D.I.E. Shockwave

In order to get the D.I.E. Schockwave you will need to kill Megaton and the Megaton twins. They will drop a card that can be used to get the remote. Use the remote to switch on the weapon in Nacht der Untoten and feed zombies to it until it is charged and ready to blow the door off. Step 3: Upgrade to the D.I.E Nova 5

To upgrade this weapon you will need to capture gas from a Plaugehound into a canister that can be found in Nacht der Untoten. The canister can be filled in the Weapons Lab and then attached to a box at the Crash Site. Once attached blast it to open the box. Step 4: Upgrade to the D.I.E. Cryo-Emitter

To get this upgrade you will need to make a Megaton activate the fungus on a tree. I normally do this during step 2. Then get the flask from the crate and place it under the fungus. Use the acid collected from this fungus to burn the chains off the box in the Medical Bay. Follow this step by step guide to upgrade to the D.I.E. Cryo-Emitter.

Step 5: Activate Dr. Vogel's Computer

Go into the Dark Aether and collect the three Aetherscope parts. Build them on the work bench on the bottom floor of the Particle Accelerator. Take it into the Dark Aether to Dr. Vogel's computer to get the diary. Take the diary to the three ghosts, which will each give you a letter to the password. Then type the password into the computer. Step 6: Upgrade to the D.I.E. Electrobolt

Next, we upgrade to a stream of electricity that can melt Megaton in seconds. Go back into the Dark Aether and collect the three crystals into the wonder weapon, one at a time, and shoot them into the box at the bottom of the Particle Accelerator. You can collect your prize when all lights are lit up. Follow this step by step guide to upgrade to the D.I.E. Electrobolt.

Step 7: Upgrade to the D.I.E. Thermophasic

Upgrade to the gun that shoots a ball of fire, the D.I.E. Thermosphasic. You must first find the fuse that is hidden under the cockpit at the Crash Site. Then go into the Dark Aether and head down to the Weapons Lab to activate the laser cutter. Take the laser cutter to the box in the back of the truck in the Pond. Activate the box to pick up your new upgrade. Follow this step by step guide to upgrade to the D.I.E. Thermosphasic.

Step 8: Hit the Four Containment Switches

You will need now to activate the four switches in the containment station at the Medical Bay. This is a large glass-walled cage hanging in the center of the room. It looks like it has four legs on the bottom of the cage. Each leg can be activated by a different upgrade of the Wonder Weapon. Unless all four players have a wonder weapon, you will need to go back to the boxes in the earlier steps and switch out your upgrades as you activate legs. Step 9: Install the Decontamination Agent

After shooting the legs you will need to get the Decontamination Agent. It is currently up in a tree in the Crash Site, above the cockpit. In order to get it down you will have to again go into the Dark Aether. You can find a Spectral Anomaly on the walkway, outside of Dr. Vogel's Office. Activate it and watch two ghosts discuss the Decontamination Agent.

After they finish talking you will exit the Dark Aether. There will be a wrench on the ground with a yellow outline. Pick up the wrench.

Take the wrench to the tank in the Yard. Approach the wrench to see an indicator to knock on the tank, push your activation button to knock. After knocking three times, a zombie will open the tank hatch. Kill the zombie. Next, throw a Semtex grenade so that it sticks to the hatch. If you do not have a Semtex, then you can craft one.

The grenade will blow up, causing the tank to shoot. The round will hit the tree that has the Decontamination Agent in it. This will cause it to fall below and land next to the cockpit of the crashed plane. Pick it up and carry it back to the area where you picked up the wrench.

Note: You can not shoot or defend yourself when carrying the Decontamination Agent. It helps to have someone hold a zombie, or in solo, you might have to keep dropping it and picking it up.

Step 10: Collect the Subject

For this step, you will once again need a Megaton, or more precisely you will need Megaton Bomber and Megaton Blaster. You will need to get both halves of Megaton under the containment cage. The cage is the same cage that had the four-leg looking switches that each upgrade gun activated. You can get the Megatwins there any way you are able. However, I found the easiest way is to get Megaton in the area, and then use the D.I.E. Electrobolt to kill it very close to the containment container.

Step 11: Get the Family Photo

Go back to Dr. Vogel's computer with all the players in the game. Activate the computer and watch as the Megaton twins turn into Orlov. He will pound on the containment unit and eventually escape.

Next, go to Nacht der Untoten and enter the Dark Aether. Go to the "Living Room" and find the spectral Anomaly in the corner by the desk and the handgun on the wall. Activate it and listen to him speak. He will drop a photo of Orlov's family. Pick it up.

Warning: Once you pick up the photo, the Boss fight will begin. You will have no choice but to either finish the Easter Egg or die. Make sure you have all the guns, ammo, upgrades, and armor that you need.

Step 12: The Boss Fight

You will be pulled into the Particle Accelerator room near the Pack-a-Punch as soon as you pick up the picture. Orlov will see the photo of his family and start talking about him. He will say he is going to shut down the Particle Accelerator. To do this he will have to go to three separate areas and work on the machine. Lots of zombies, Plaugehounds, Megatons, Megaton Bombers, and Megaton Blasters will spawn in.

You will need to protect Orlov while he shuts down the accelerator. I suggest having at least one player with the D.I.E. Electrobolt kill every Megaton he can while the other players protect Orlov from direct attacks.

Step 13: Exfil

You will have to run after the Particle Accelerator is shut down. There will be lighting hitting the ground in many areas. If you touch it you will die. At least one player has to make it back to the Pond in order to trigger the Exfil and finish the Easter Egg.

I suggest going through the Weapons Lab, through the tunnel, into the Crash Site, and finally into the Pond. Take your time, but survive the zombies and complete it before the countdown hits zero, or everyone dies.
