Top 5 "Call of Duty: Black Ops – Zombies" Maps
The phenomena of the Zombies mode has really struck well with avid fans of the Call of Duty franchise, and first-person shooter fans in general. It doesn't hurt being an extension of the best-selling game of 2010 () and the achievements and hidden easter eggs do not hurt the mode's popularity, either. Call of Duty: Black Ops
There were a whopping 10 zombie maps available prior to Black Ops 2 and 3, if you include the 4 remastered classic maps originally available in Call of Duty: World at War, each with their own special wonders—and the top 5 Black Ops – Zombies maps are truly the cream of the crop.
Welcome to the Russian Cosmodrome of Call of Duty: Black Ops – Zombie Mode map, "Ascension." At the beginning of the level, players are more so "Descending" into the bottom level of the cosmodrome, readying their teleporter lagged selves to complete the side quest of the Kassimir Mechanism.
This map is at the top of the list because of all the easter eggs that can be discovered, especially the conspiracy behind the Mega Easter Egg of Ascension.
New weapons made their debut in "Ascension," like the Gersch Device, or Black Hole bomb, as many people refer to it and also Matryoshka Doll Bombs. As well as new weapons; the introduction of what could be the fan-favorite round boss was also introduced in "Ascension," that being the perk-stealing cosmic silverback Space Monkey! The good news about these little thieves is that if you could protect your perk machine from them, they would reward you with not only the famous round 5 Max Ammo, but you would also get a free Random Perk!
2. "Der Riese"
The zombie factory is the setting for the map titled "Der Riese" and also the English translation of the German word. Not only was this map the last and most extensive of Call of Duty: World at War, but it was the origin of a few features treasured by zombies mode fans, the world over.
The very first appearance of Monkey Bombs came along with the map pack, as well as the achievement for using them for the first time. Der Riese also featured the first-ever achievement worthy Easter Egg, the "Fly Trap" and also was featured the first appearance of the Pack-a-Punch machine and teleporter device!
3. "Kino Der Toten"
As you enter "The Theatre of the Dead," you may be beside yourself in wonder and fear. The dark corners of Kino Der Toten, also hide some secrets, but that is not why it made my number 2 (lol, I said Number 2).
Yes, our buddies, Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo, and Nicholai, are back in action and the environment of the zombie-infested theatre is the perfect setting for the zombie-train strategy. Starting a round waiting inside the readied teleporter device, players can quickly escape to the Pack-a-Punch room in the theatre's balcony.
When you're up there, the zombies gather in a circle near the seats of the theatre. When you teleport back to the main room, they will be waiting to chase you. That's your queue to walk steadily away from them back towards the teleporter, turning to shoot the following train of zombies behind you. An excellent, but sometimes monotonous strategy.
Hidden song can be unlocked once more of course (115 by Elena Siegman) and though there are no new weapons to be found, Kino Der Toten introduces the debut performance of a new zombie creature, "NOVA 6" zombies, which are actually Cosmic Silverbacks of sorts. In the loading screen, you can read one of the tips that states . . . "The Cosmic Silverbacks have many cousins." Those cousins being the Space Monkey, the Great Cosmic Silverback from the arcade top-down shooter "Dead Ops Arcade," and the new monkey zombie from the upcoming map "Shangri-la."
4. "Call of the Dead"
The god-father of zombies, George A. Romero, stars alongside four of the horror movie genre's most infamous stars, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Danny Trejo, Michael Rooker, and Robert Englund. Another Mega Easter Egg can be found in Call of the Dead and features the cast of previous zombie maps, Dempsey, Nicholai, Richthofen, and Takeo. The reward? An upgraded DG-12 Wundewaffe!
New features include the zip-line, ice-slide, the new perk Deadshot Daquiri, the Scavenger (wonder weapon) and also the VR-11 which turns zombies back into humans by injecting them with NOVA 6 gas. Another great map for the zombie train strategy.
From a DLC release for Call of Duty: Black Ops, the "Annihilation" Map Pack; "Shangri-la" zombies offers up some classic features from old school, close-quarters maps like "Nacht Der Untoten" and "Shi No Numa."
Randomly appearing throughout the map are the infamous perk machines that used to be found in one specific location. Finally returning to random locations; this gives players a little more of a challenge to the experience of a smaller map.
The new traps are just amazing and for the record, are not just there to impede the living dead zombies that chase you throughout the map, they also impede the movement and lives of the players who dare enter them. Quicksand and bamboo spikes that shoot from the ground in rapid succession are just to name a couple of these traps, and though one might think the spikes would kill any zombies that walk through them, but this is not the case!
New weapons are always a plus! Shangri-la features a weapon that surely will cut any zombie down to size, the Shrink Ray Gun! This map also features the return of the exploding little Monkey Bomb and of course the Ray Gun!
