The Evolution of Player vs. Player (PvP) in OAC
PvP has changed a lot since the olden days of OAC. However, there are some things that never change.
- PvP sometimes feels fruitless. The rating system does not always assure that you will battle players of a similar ranking.
- Some high eq level players tank their rankings to help friends. Some high gs level players tank their rankings, too.
- You must be level 75 to play in the arena.
Of course, they don't tell you how to get gear through PvP. It's actually easier than most of us realize. Let's talk about what PvP is, then we can discuss how to get epic PvP gear. It can all be done without spending your whole paycheck. Yes, it's possible, so don't let the haters make you give up hope.
(If you are pro P2W, then go ahead and spend all you would like. Get the best gems and stock up on removal pliers and drilling cones.)
How to Enter the Arena
To enter the arena, click the green box at the top of the screen. It is labeled League and is next to Guild.
Currently, there are three PvP fields:
8v8 used to be coming soon, but there is no news as to when or if that will ever be possible.
What Do Q2s, Q4s, and Qbg Mean?
Players use a variety of abbreviations to express what type of PvP they are interested in. Here are some of the most common terms.
- Q2s / qr2s or que 2s / que r2s: This is what a player says when they want others to play 2v2 arena. This arena is one team of two fighting another team of two. The "R" means random. With out the "R" it means they want you to pick a team in advance. A win in this arena is 100 honor points, and a loss is 20.
- Qr4s and que 4s: These arenas look just like the ones in 2s, only there are 4 players on each team, and you get roughly double honor points per win. That is 200 a win and 40 a loss.
- BG stands for the battleground: It's four people per team. It's a game of capture the flag. Once the flag is picked up, the bridge to your base vanishes. Someone must flip the switch, which brings the bridge back. Then the flag can be delivered home. A win is 300 honor points in battlefield.
How Do You Get PvP Gear?
Getting PvP gear is easier than it seems.
- Earn honor points when you play in the arena.
- You can trade these points for arena points. You get 1,500 arena points for 500 honor points.
- Every time you cap, you get 1,500 honor points. That means 4,500 arena points each time you cap.
That means you can have your first PvP epic in four days without spending money on tabs.
Speaking of tabs:
- If you have arena tabs, you can reset your honor and get it even sooner.
- Every time you cap, you get a chest with a reward that might have one of the many PvP tabs.
- You can get them in the daily lotto, by winning an event or tournament, on the black market, or in the hourly chest.
- If you want to buy them in the nick shop for real money, you can.
To become an End Game PvP player, you want to obtain full Purple S4, which unlocks special set bonuses. The blue sets do not have set bonuses in the form of gear masteries. As far as accessories, the S4 trinkets are the only ones that have a gear mastery.
Order and Chaos Online PvP can be lots of fun once you begin gathering your resilience set.
What Is PvP Gear and What Is Resilience?
PvP gear usually has more stamina, armor and resilience than other types of gear. Win matches in arena to earn this gear.
Resilience is a special stat that only takes effect in PvP. Resilience reduces the damage you take from other players in the arena. The less damage you take, the more time you have to use your skills. This will increase your wins. Once you have enough resilience and skill, then you can begin to build your rank for S4 gear.
Dungeon gear is called Tier (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on) but PvP gear is called Season (1 1.5, 2, 2.5 3, 3.5, 4 blues, 4 purples). By obtaining Season 3.5 and above, you can add stamina and resilience so you can win in the arena.
What Is Rank?
To get the blue and purple s4 you must achieve the ranking for each piece. Every player has their own rank. This number is how the leaderboards are scored. You can use look in the PvP menus under leagues to see other players rankings.
PvP ranking has no impact outside of PvP, and is not related to dungeons. Getting good PvP gear may be helpful at Mangler and in dungeons, so it is worth the effort.
S4 is the best type of gear in the game atm. It was released around the 2017 anniversary. S4 purples are the best, with blues being second best. This gear has higher armor, better stats and a higher amount of resilience.
Unless you pay someone to carry you, it is likely that you will need to use S3.5 until you can get the rank for the good stuff. Most classes should always start with the chest. The S 3.5 blues are found in Glory Plaza, just behind and up the hill from the S4.
S3 has been removed from the game. But, S2.5 there. I don't recommend using anything before the S3.5. There are only a few circumstances where the s2.5 trinket might be useful, but if you have a t5 + or better trinket then don't gear down for the trinket.

newbie question... Played wow for years... Just started oac.
Just hit 70 and want to start my pvp gear grind..... Where do I even enter a bg?? Do I need a team or is it open to individual players to que up?
Jade Griffin (author) from Ohio on May 26, 2015:
Hi Blake, welcome.
1 focus on pvp to get geared. Keep a reset scroll in your bag just in case. You don't have to buy books. I am experimenting with a pvp hybrid spec with my new mage.
2. I did full s2.5 on my mage, but if you have the patience to do 4,2 then do it.
3. Kind of depends, a little of both is good, but gear up in pvp primarily.
Blake Easterbrook on May 23, 2015:
new to pvp and fresh lvl 70. i am a mage. few questions.
1: should i build a hybrid spec so i can do both pvp and pve? or just build a pvp spec and focus on pvp until i get geared?
2: should i first get s2.5 or 2? mathematically 2.5 is cheaper and better, but i see 2 pieces of s2 give me a set bonus, so maybe i should get 2 s2 for the set bonus , 4 s2.5 then get my s3?
3: as a fresh lvl 70, should i farm dungeons first or do pvp? any tips would be appreciated
Jade Griffin (author) from Ohio on May 05, 2015:
Some of the fml, vtl and so on gear isn't bad, but t4 is out in the new dungeons. The first boss of bnl drops war shoulders, which isn't a bad place to start. Your also ready to make your t4 ring.
Ma on May 05, 2015:
After farming MZL and AGL til i was full t3 i started farming FML and VTL and FML drops epic for wars for head and chest found out that in order flame dungeons drops epic boots and gloves i think and just don't know which is better t3 or the ones in flame they also have bonus

Hit level is the accuracy of hits. An increased hit level increases base damage, and results in consistent harder hits. Be careful when combining crit and hit, there is a point of diminishing returns. At that point start adding haste.
tang on May 05, 2015:
oh and i was wondering what exactly is hit level? i seem to see in more in t3 but fail to understand players say its important but i don't know why sorry for the questions
Jade Griffin (author) from Ohio on May 03, 2015:
That is a great question, ill write a whole guide about it.
Tang on May 03, 2015:
Hi i just wanted to know the rating requirement for s3 rings necklace and armor as well, i only started getting my gear and now farming my rank i don't know which rank i should be to be able to buy s3
Jam on March 13, 2015:
Hi, was wondering if you can explain 'rating'. I see a lot of players in global asking for '+1600 2/2 partner' or something like that, is the +1600 rating? I've been asked what my rating is. I don't know where to see my rating. Is it the level? I've asked players online but they don't answer or they completely disregard my question :(
S on March 01, 2015:
Once you hit the ranking requirement for a piece of equipment once, can you always buy it? If I have hit the level but don have honor points, should I play another arena till I do? So I don't go back under?
Jade Griffin (author) from Ohio on February 25, 2015:
I just finished a guide about cap and exhaustion, it should go live shortly. I can do a PVP Season gear guide, I have it lightly started already. I will work on that next. I may do like I did with the tiers and do a general guide, then a spesific guide about each season.
Sidissid on February 25, 2015:
Hi, can you also do a detailed guide with Season gears like the ones you did on Tier gears? I think it would be a big help for newbies that opt for PVP explaining all those gear mastery stuff and gear combinations :D Well only if your not busy haha. Thanks a lot!
Jade Griffin (author) from Ohio on February 21, 2015:
Thanks, Sisidsid. I was swamped yesterday, S, sid explains it pretty well. Basically, you are allowed 1,500 honor points each day. Once you cap you can use tabs to reset the cap. You won't get a second chest, but you can still earn points. See my hub about PvP tabs for more on that.
You can click my profile to see more of my articles. 1,500 honor points can be saved for s3 and s2.5. But you can also trade it for arena points for s2. 1,500 honor points equals about 4,500 Arena points. You can see my hub about trading honor points for arena points for more about that.
Sisidsid on February 21, 2015:
To cap is when you have gained 1500 honor points in pvp, after that you will get a chest containing random stuff. After 1500 honor points you will not gain anymore honor points for the day.
S on February 20, 2015:
What does it mean to cap?
Sisidsid on February 19, 2015:
Definitely more fun if you know stuff! Maybe because there's a lot more android players now that they decide to upgrade them first. My other sister is on android and she's the one that showed me the upgrade. Sadly we don't see each other ingame since the rest of us are on ios. (me, younger sister (sin), older brother).
We made a guild consisting of just 3 and they have made me their official go-to-guy since "I KNOW A LOT". I told them i get everything i know here and to visit this blog but they are just too lazy lol.
The younger sister is crazy about mounts so every time i play i have your site open in another tab for quick reference :D
Thanks again! and hope to see more topics from ya!
Jade Griffin (author) from Ohio on February 19, 2015:
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate that! I think knowledge makes the game more fun! Oh yes, I just spoke wish someone about this. It is hard to believe, but Android got the update first this time! OMG, does that mean we aren't the wicked stepchild anymore?
You know what, it is soooo interesting you said that. I was on a team with someone who found something similar. I had never seen it or even heard of that happening. It is rare, but I guess we should all be checking those chests. Maybe this time it won't be cheese!
Just so you know Android has the update, but there is still a quest line guy missing (for the dungeon) and the boss nian is not in just yet.
Sisidsid on February 19, 2015:
Thanks a lot! This really made it clearer. I rely heavily on your blogs and always point other players here for detailed info, I am currently grinding for my 2/6 S2 - 4/6 S2.5 gear.
Also, it seems that the marksman update hasn't arrived at IOS servers yet(?)..
just for sharing, my sister (also a sin) found a shadow fang shoulder gear inside a chest near the body of the mendel when she was doing the "missing mate" quest, i tried coming back to the area but had no luck...
Jade Griffin (author) from Ohio on February 19, 2015:
Sorry I didn't respond yesterday. I wanted to double check the answer to this one. The S2, or season 2, gear for rangers are called Merciless Combatant's Leather (boots, gloves, ect.) and Merciless Combatant's Tiger Skin (boots, gloves ect.). Sin is Leather, and Marksman (previously Archer) is Tiger Skin.
I am not a sin, so I asked around about Sin s 2.5. I was told that Sins use Shadow Fang. Hopefully one of my other readers and confirm this, or you can ask in game.
I get how confusing sin PVE gear is. It is easy for mages, just one set. It is not hard to tell the difference between healing gear and mili gear. Warrior is a sinch since tanks are the black sheep. But for Rangers, it can be difficult to understand which is which, and why.
Sisidsid on February 18, 2015:
What is the name of the S2 gear & S2.5 gear for sin? I'm confused... Thanks
Jade Griffin (author) from Ohio on February 14, 2015:
Oh goodness. I have seen some heated debates over that. I have a healer, and I am wearing 4 s2 (merciless set), and two s3. In retrospect, I might have gone the other way. However, I started my sets before the whole 2.5 craze.
Honestly, I think the fastest way to s3 is not to waste too many points. I think 4 s2.5 at least one of those pieces being the boots, and 2 s2 make for a good set. That way you get the s2.5 set bonus and the 2 piece bonus from the s2. Just remember boots do not count in the s2 set bonus.
I would probably have done things differntly if I could go back in time and tell myself about the s2.5 set.
The beauty of the 2.5 set is that some pieces drop, and some can be bought on the ah. Honor points are hard to come by, and the s2.5 set is pretty darn good for heals.
I do recommend that you get some resilience gems. You can farm gold and try to make some lvl 3s, at least, or buy them in the nick shop. I wouldn't use honor points for the level 2 gems unless you are just that desperate.
