This cape can be purchased after achieving 120 Slayer.
This cape can be purchased after achieving 120 Slayer.

Introduction

Slayer is a skill in RuneSape which allows players to damage monsters which would otherwise be immune to damage. It is a useful skill for making money as many high leveled monsters have very good drops such as Dark Beasts and Abyssal Demons. This guide will show you how to minimise your time spent slaying to achieve level 99 as soon as possible.

Starting Out

When you start slaying you should try and use the highest leveled slayer master available to you. Slayer masters give the player an assignment for a certain number of monsters to be killed, upon completion you will gain several slayer points and be able to begin a new task. The table below should help you decide which slayer master is best for you.

Rewards

When completing slayer tasks the player will be rewarded with slayer reward points which can be used to purchase exclusive slayer rewards such as experience, the Slayer Helm, or be used to block certain tasks which the player finds tedious/boring. The first thing the player should purchase is the Slayer Helm and should be working towards to upgrades on them all the time as it can speed tasks up significantly.

The amount of reward points you receive depends on your slayer master and there are bonuses for every 10 and 50 tasks. The player should also complete the quest Smoking Kills as soon as possible as this allows you to receive full slayer points instead of the usual half.

Another reward is simply the drops from the monsters you are killing. As your slayer level increases you will have access to monsters with rarer and thus more valuable drops and some tasks can bring in over a million coins in value from the drops. It may be worth bringing nature runes and a fire staff to alch a lot of the rune/dragon drops from monsters which become more frequent at higher levels

There are a lot of other pieces of equipment to choose from, some of the helpful ones are listed below:

  • Full Slayer Helm provides a 12.5% accuracy and damage bonus while on task
  • Amulet of Fury 4.2% critical hit chance and 3 prayer bonus
  • Skill Capes 2% critical hit chance
  • Onyx Ring (i) 2.7% critical hit chance
  • Ring of Slaying helps with tracking slayer tasks and provides several useful teleport locations
  • Overloads boosts all combat stats substantially
  • Bonecrusher automatically buries bones
  • Demon Horn Necklace restores prayer points for buried bones (useful when used with the bonecrusher)
  • Charming Imp automatically collects charms for the player
  • Herbicide destroys herbs for herblore xp
  • Seedicide destroys seeds for farming xp

The player can also block and cancel tasks for 100 and 30 slayer points respectively. It is also now possible to prefer tasks which gives you a higher chance of recieving that monster as a taks. At higher levels your blocked tasks should include:

  • Strykewyrms
  • Camel Warriors
  • Gargoyles
  • Grotworms
  • Elves
  • Greater Demons

Preferred Tasks should include:

  • Airuts
  • Dark Beasts
  • Automatons
  • Celestial Dragons
  • Waterfiends

You will have an excess of slayer points after unlocking all the gear you want so you should use slayer points to skip tasks which you find tedious. Thaler can be used to purchase VIP tickets which gives the player a choice of two slayer tasks when receiving tasks off your slayer master. These are very useful items and makes slayer a lot easier.

@Tyler definitely doing slayer will make you around 200m at least from 1-99. It will also get you a load of charms to help with summoning too
