The Stand - Eve Online Mission Guide
This guide and video walkthrough will cover the Advanced Military Career arc mission, The Stand in the video game MMO, Eve Online. Within you will find information on completing the mission objectives along with rewards and any other relevant details. This is the fifth in a chain of ten missions.
"Make a stand at the pirate base - destroy at least one ship and survive for as long as you can against the reinforcements that come."

In The Stand, the Advanced Military career arc seeks to reiterate a point about losing your ship in Eve Online and how to handle such a situation. Unlike before, where the idea was to sacrifice your ship purposefully, this mission aims to take the route of losing your ship in combat to enemy fire. Like before, you will be granted a sacrificial frigate which you are intended to lose, however this time you'll do so by fighting waves of ships until you are taken out, at least so you're told. What you're not told, is your probably only going to be able to take out the one ship.
Unfortunately how this mission actually plays out, is you will warp to an acceleration gate, which blocks anything other than Tech 1 frigate sized ships from entering, from which you'll be taken into a room with at first, a lone enemy frigate. The second wave which spawns once this ship is destroyed compromises an overwhelming force of drones with webifiers and ten cruisers which are all equipped with lock jamming modules, meaning you will be left helpless to fight back as the second wave pummels the crap out of you without chance for reprise. To top it off, even if you could kill them, there is no bounty for doing so. Basically this is not a glorious stand, instead a massive beatdown.
For these reasons it is pretty important that you get the top tier of insurance for the guaranteed loss of your ship and make sure to only equip the bare minimum needed to take down the first frigate. As can be seen in the video above however, the second wave does not seem to have warp disruptors, meaning you can warp back too station, strip the modules and fly back to lose your hull to complete the second half of the objective.
The important idea here like before, is that losing your ship sucks, but is not the end by any means. In missions, and where this is shown a bit differently than before, is there is the added benefit of the AI not targeting your capsule. This means as long as you aren't in a situation threatened by other actual players, your clone is safe from destruction.
