Let the Immortal Games Begin!
Mount Olympus is your introduction to the Greek and Roman-inspired world of Aquila in Wizard101. This dungeon was released in August 2013, but many players still farm it because it has many useful treasures inside, including Zeus gear for level 30 wizards, the Sky Iron Hasta, and the Alpha and Omega Ring for level 90 wizards. In this dungeon, you'll begin the Immortal Games, a competition where the Immortals of Aquila face off against your wizard to see who's better at magic. Do you have what it takes to beat Zeus Sky Father, god of thunder, in combat? With this guide, you can! Start the main quest by talking to Athena Battle Sight, or sneak over to the secret boss if you want a challenge...
Apollo Bright One
Your first battle in Mount Olympus is Apollo Bright One, god of the sun. Amusingly, he is a chicken (Spanish speakers might say he's a pollo). Apollo is a rank 7 life boss with 3,360 health and mastery of the fire school, and he can be accompanied by 1-3 Elite Cyclops guards, who are myth enemies. He has 80% resistance to life magic, so life wizards will want to use a Life Prism to take advantage of his 50% weakness to death. Apollo is probably the first boss you'll ever face who can use power pips for two schools, but don't worry! Use your four pip attack all spell (Meteor Strike, Blizzard, etc.) to get rid of the minion, and blade and trap to kill Apollo quickly before he heals himself and his minions with Unicorn. Once you defeat Apollo, collect your first Legion token and head back to Athena for your next assignment.
The Crescent Moon Centaur and Ophidian Archers
Next, you must go to the moon chamber to receive your next Legion Token. This is a simple mob battle against a Crescent Moon Centaur and 1-3 Ophidian Archers. The Crescent Moon Centaur has 1280 health. This might be your first exposure to the moon school, one of the three Astral schools of magic you can learn in Celestia. Moon enemies will use ice, myth, and death magic, and resist those schools, while they are weak to life, storm, and fire. The Ophidian Archers have 1200 health and use death magic. Once you beat these enemies, collect your second Legion Token and go back to Athena.
Zeus' Praetorian Guard
For your third Legion Token, you'll need to battle Zeus's personal bodyguards out on the Sky Balcony. The Praetorian Guard is a storm elite with 990 health, and he comes with 3 Elite Cyclops Guard minions, who are myth with 895 health. Treat this as a straightforward mob battle. Also, don't forget to grab your free housing item up here! If you get close to the large statue of Zeus in front of the Sky Balcony, you can collect it. Bring your last Legion Token to Athena.
Your next task is to solve a puzzle, given to you by Eris Golden Apple, who holds the key to Hephaestus's workshop. You must find the weaknesses of each legionnaire. The answers to solving this puzzle are hidden in the tapestries surrounding this area. Each tapestry gives a piece of Aquilan history that will help you understand what to do. Minotaurs beat Ophidians, Elephants beat Minotaurs, and Ophidians beat Elephants. When a statue moves forward, click on the one that beats it, or else you'll have to fight a Minotaur Warrior (ice), an Ophidian Archer (death), and a Carthaginian Elephant Warrior (fire), all with 1200 health.
With Eris' key, you can enter the Hall of the Watchful Eye. In here are two more Elite Cyclops Guards. You know the drill. Kill them to enter Hephaestus's forge.
Hephaestus' Bronze Eagles
Before continuing your journey, Hephaestus makes a request of you. You will need to find his four missing Bronze Eagles who have been scattered all over Mount Olympus.
- The first eagle is outside the Hall of the Watchful Eye. Go up the stairs to the right and you'll see it beside a bench.
- The second eagle is to the left of the door to the moon chamber, tucked away in a corner.
- The third eagle is by the entrance to the dungeon, hiding in the corner.
- To find the fourth eagle, enter Apollo's room and turn to the right.
Now head back to Hephaestus for the next step.
Ares Savage Spear
If you want to face Zeus in combat, you're going to need a powerful weapon. Hephaestus has crafted the Sky Iron Hasta for his brother Ares, and he tells you to beat him up and take it from him. Yikes, talk about sibling rivalry. Ares waits for you in the Hall of Battle. He is a fire boss with 3600 health, and comes with 1-3 Ophidian Archer minions. Ares also has death mastery and a few cheats up his sleeve. First, he'll interrupt the battle in the first round to cast Amplify, a star aura that will give him a 15% damage boost for the next four turns. He'll repeat this every 4th round after, so he'll pretty much always have extra damage. Second, it might be best to avoid using single target hits on Ares. If you do, he will use his natural attack, which leaves a 40% trap on you, without using any of his pips. This could lead to you getting spammed with hits if your group is not careful. He knows a couple of the 70% shields, so it will help you to have a Shatter treasure card handy to remove them. Once you beat Ares, he's 100% guaranteed to drop the Sky Iron Hasta. This weapon is one you'll probably still be using at level 90, it's that powerful. It gives a 10% universal damage boost, which is hard to beat, especially at level 30. Equip it before going to the next room.
Zeus Sky Father
And here we are at the big bird himself. Zeus Sky Father awaits you at his throne. He is a myth boss with 4000 health, and he may be accompanied by 1-3 Minotaur Warriors. Zeus has a tendency to stun, sometimes 1 person and sometimes your whole group, so it may be a good idea to pick up the Stun Block spell from Diego in Unicorn Way before you fight him. You'll definitely want to have it on your healer.
Zeus's natural attack is storm despite him being a myth boss, but it makes sense because he's the god of thunder. It'll leave a myth trap on you afterwards. Shielding may be difficult here because Zeus knows Pierce and Shatter. His ice buddies, however, will shield frequently, making it a priority to kill them first so you can hit Zeus without any defenses. Also, don't hit Zeus with a spell that's six pips or more, or he'll cheat cast a Minotaur at you. Just pepper away at him and his minions and eventually they'll go down.
Zeus has a chance to drop Zeus gear, the highly desired level 30 set from this dungeon that gives universal resist, and a slightly higher chance of dropping Senator gear, which is a decent substitute. For defeating Zeus and completing this dungeon, you will receive the Honorable Bronze Archon badge. Nice work!
Secret Boss: Gladiator Dimachaerus
If you want a challenge intended for level 90 wizards, head through the gate past Eris's puzzle into the Pit of the Noxii, where you can face Gladiator Dimachaerus, a ferocious rank 13 bear boss, and 1-3 Doomed Bones minions. This area is also the only place where people can port into the dungeon, so if you need help, head in here (you don't have to fight the gladiator for this).
The Gladiator is a balance boss with 24,000 health. He has a fondness for Mana Burn, which destroys 4 of your pips, and Black Mantle, which weakens your accuracy and might make you fizzle. The main problem you'll face when fighting the Gladiator is his natural attack, which leaves a 75% weakness on its target. For this fight, buy Cleanse Charm treasure cards from the Bazaar to remove the weakness. You'll want to kill his ice minions first, since they love to shield their boss. Spirit school hitters may also need to remove a couple of shields from him if he uses Sabertooth. Buff up one hitter at a time and use your most powerful attacks to take him down. He knows Availing Hands, so it's best to take him down in one hit if possible.
The Gladiator has many useful drops, including Exalted mastery amulets, the Enchanted Armament pet, and the Alpha and Omega Ring, which is the best ring for level 90 wizards. He is also a good source of amber, so crafters are going to want to come here often. This secret boss is very rewarding if you're up for the challenge!
