Abilities

Most players of Archero have gathered the basics of what abilities make for a good run. The simple idea of having an extra arrow fire with your attack is obvious. However, the benefits and exact impact of all of the various abilities is often unclear. This list will help you make informed decisions on how to build an ideal run.

Changes in Update 1.3.6

In February, 2020, Archero received some new abilities as well as some changes to existing ones. These are as follows:

Changed Abilities:

  • Meteor: Now fires towards target
  • Stars: Now fire towards target, no longer shoots out horizontal and vertical projectiles upon impact.

New Abilities:

  • Dark Touch: A new elemental that causes an area-of-effect explosion 1 second after hitting the enemy with it. The explosion detonates for 90% current damage. There is also a circle version of this ability, but no other types such as the rotating swords.
  • Plus Abilities: After completing a room with no damage taken, you will permanently gain a small buff to the associated stat. There are Plus abilities for Health, Attack, Crit, and Attack Speed.
  • Aura: Every 10 seconds your character will gain a significant buff to the associated stat lasting 2 seconds. There are abilities for Crit and Attack Speed. Buffs partially stack in that they cannot occur at the same time, but will not trigger independent delays of time. Meaning, you will not wait 8 seconds for Attack Speed, then afterwards another 8 seconds for Crit. Both buffs will be received during the same 10 second window.

God Tier

Must-pick options in any scenario.

Attack Boost
Increase base attack by 30% for major, 15% for minor. Attack boost buffs are significantly bugged and may not work as you expect. Sometimes it will even reduce your attack.
Attack Plus
Upon clearing a room without taking damage, grants additional attack.
Attack Speed Boost
Increases attack speed
Blaze
Starts enemies on fire, causing a damage-over-time effect dealing 15% of your attack ticking 7 times over roughly a second and a half.
Blazing Meteor
On attack, summons a large meteor to target location dealing damage on contact. Triggers blaze effect.
Blazing Star
On attack, summons rapid small stars towards target location dealing damage on contact. Triggers blaze effect.
Bloodthirst
Restores 1.5% maximum hp upon killing an enemy
Bolt
Deals lightning damage that jumps to nearby enemies and deals 25% of your attack.
Bolt Circle
Surrounds player with rotating balls that cause Bolt effect when hitting enemies. Balls deal 75% attack damage on hit.
Bolt Meteor
On attack, summons a large meteor to target location dealing damage on contact. Triggers bolt effect.
Bolt Star
On attack, summons rapid small stars towards target location dealing damage on contact. Triggers bolt effect.
Bolt Strike
Frequently automatically spawns a blade that will fire towards enemies both while standing still and moving. Hit triggers Bolt effect. Blade deals 130% attack damage on hit.
Bolt Swords
Surrounds player with rotating swords that cause Bolt effect when hitting enemies. Blades deal 100% attack damage on hit.
Bouncy Arrow
Causes your projectiles to bounce off walls one time or one additional time if using the Tornado weapon
Crit Aura
Grants 2 seconds of increased crit rate every 10 seconds.
Crit Master
Increases critical chance and damage
Crit Plus
Upon clearing a room without taking damage, grants additional crit rate.
Dark Touch
Hitting an enemy will trigger an AoE explosion dealing 90% hit damage after a 1 second delay
Death Bomb
Causes enemies to detonate on death
Death Nova
Causes enemies to detonate into multiple projectiles on death
Diagonal Arrows
Causes 2 arrows to fire diagonally forward on attack
Dodge Master
Adds a chance to dodge incoming attacks
Dwarf
Reduces character size.

Frost Meteor
On attack, summons a large meteor to target location dealing damage on contact. Triggers freeze effect.
Frost Star
On attack, summons rapid small stars towards target location dealing damage on contact. Triggers freeze effect.
Frost Strike
Frequently automatically spawns a blade that will fire towards enemies both while standing still and moving. Hit triggers Freeze effect. Blade deals 130% attack damage on hit.
Frost Sword
Surrounds player with rotating swords that cause Freeze effect when hitting enemies. Blades deal 100% attack damage on hit.
Giant
Increases character size, but also increases damage significantly.
Headshot
Adds a chance to instantly kill enemies on hit. Can be proc'd by spirits.
Holy Touch
Causes 2 projectiles to fire perpendicularly off enemies on hit
HP Boost
Increases maximum HP by 20%
HP Plus
Upon clearing a room without taking damage, grants 2.2% additional health.
Invincibility Star
Causes 2 seconds of invulnerability every 10 seconds. Will stop projectiles.
Life +1
Causes player to respawn with maximum health upon dying. Maximum health includes any reductions or boosts from other abilities.
Multishot
Causes a second wave of projectiles to fire from player's shot, including any additional projectile abilities. Base hit damage is reduced by 10% and attack speed is reduced by 15%.
Obsidian Circle
Surrounds player with rotating balls that cause Dark Touch effect when hitting enemies. Balls deal 75% attack damage on hit.
Piercing
Causes projectiles to pierce through enemies, dealing reduced damage for every enemy it passes through
Poison Circle
Surrounds player with rotating balls that cause Poison effect when hitting enemies. Balls deal 75% attack damage on hit.
Poison Strike
Frequently automatically spawns a blade that will fire towards enemies both while standing still and moving. Hit triggers Poison effect. Blade deals 130% attack damage on hit.
Poison Swords
Surrounds player with rotating swords that cause Poison effect when hitting enemies. Blades deal 100% attack damage on hit.
Poisoned Touch
Causes enemies to become poisoned, taking 30% of your attack in damage every second until death
Rage
Increases damage by 1% for each 1% missing health (some bonus below half hp, mabye 50%?)
Rear Arrow
Causes a projectile to fire behind the player when attacking
Ricochet
Shots bounce to nearby enemies, but deal reduced damage
Shadow Clone
Chance on enemy death to spawn a Shadow clone of the player to fight for you for several seconds. Fires a basic arrow shot dealing 100% attack.
Shield Guard
Two shields rotate around the player blocking enemie projectiles
Side Arrows
One arrow fires from each side when attacking
Slow Projectile
Slows down enemy projectiles
Smart
Player levels up faster, unclear exactly by how much
Speed Aura
Grants 2 seconds of increased attack speed every 10 seconds.
Speed Plus
Upon clearing a room without taking damage, grants additional attack speed.
Spirit Attack Boost
Increases damage dealt by Spirits
Spirit Attack Speed Boost
Increases attack speed of Spirits
Spirit Crit Boost
Increase critical hit chance and damage of Spirits
Spirit Diagonal Arrows
Adds 2 diagonal projectiles to Spirit attacks
Spirit-Front Arrow
Adds an additional front projectile to Spirit attacks

Causes Spirit attacks to fire an additional wave of projectiles
Strong Heart
Increases healing gained from dropped red hearts by 20%. Does not impact healing from Bloodthirst or Heal abilities.
Summon One-Eyed Bat
Chance on enemy death to summon a One-Eyed bat to fight for your for several seconds
Through the Wall
Allows player to walk through walls
Toxic Meteor
On attack, summons a large meteor to target location dealing damage on contact. Triggers poison effect.
Toxic Star
On attack, summons rapid small stars towards target location dealing damage on contact. Triggers poison effect.
Water Walker
Allows player to walk over water
Wingman
Spirits block enemy projectiles

Bolt Swords
Surrounds player with rotating swords that cause Bolt effect when hitting enemies. Blades deal 100% attack damage on hit.

The Perfect Setup

The perfect setup is rare to come by, but generally, with how Archero has tuned the game, most abilities don't scale and selecting those that do is the ideal way to have a strong run. Obviously this means taking Multishot and Double Front Arrow, but Attack Speed and Attack Damage buffs are also very meaningful as they'll scale as you stack them all together. One-off abilities often become lower priority because they won't be impacted by things like Multishot or stack together with your various attack buffs.

Be sure to stick to things that compound and work well together, and avoid things that just don't synergize. You won't always land the perfect build but as long as you make complementary selections you'll do just fine.

        I think that Extra Life should be A or S at best because the devil takes a huge chunk of hp for it.
