Battle Pass in "Archero"

As of early September 2019 Archero has added a battle pass system to the game marking the start of what is being referred to as "Season 1." The concept of a Season in Archero has not existed until this point, but the idea of a season battle pass is certainly not unknown for many gamers. While Season 1 is fairly short due to an initial delay, we've now gotten the first glimpse of what it means to have a Battle Pass and a Season within Archero. This guide aims to cover how it works, what value you can expect, and ultimately whether or not you should consider buying it.

Battle Pass Description

How the Battle Pass Works

The Battle Pass in Archero operates much like what you would expect from a base implementation of a Battle Pass found in many other games. You have a track of free rewards that you make progress against and earn by playing the game. Optionally you can purchase a premium track for a real money micro-transaction priced at $4.99 USD to unlock the opportunity to earn additional rewards. The premium track can be purchased at any time and will retroactively grant rewards even if you've moved further down the track. Check the tables below for a full list of rewards available to players.

Completing the Battle Pass

Battle Pass progress is granted by killing enemy monsters. After completing a run you will receive a quick pop-up in the upper part of your screen indicating how many kills you got towards your Battle Pass. All killed monsters count as a single kill towards your goal, regardless of whether or not they are mini-spawns, spawns from other monsters, or even bosses themselves.

Currently, each step of the Battle Pass beyond the first free one requires killing 300 monsters, or a total of 4500 monsters. As of season 1, this is an incredibly easy figure to complete as Chapters will easily spawn 200 monsters in a single run, some over 300. Chapter 3 spawns an average of 230 monsters, which means just by doing Chapter 3 you can complete the Battle Pass with 100 energy. This would take about 20 hours of energy if you started from 0 or 11 hours of energy if you started full and had 5 ad views to use. It even drops to 6 hours as you claim energy from the free track!

There really is no need to optimize your play around completing the Battle Pass as you'll very easily complete it. However, this could change in the upcoming seasons!

It's still most likely generally wise to continue farming wherever is most appropriate for you. If you really want to speed through the Battle Pass you should avoid Chapter 7 and instead focus on Chapter 8 which has a lot of enemies that spawn additional enemies, including a boss! For lower level users, I would still recommend sitting on Chapter 3.

Should You Buy It?

Ultimately the answers seems to be a yes as of Season 10 so long as you want a Stalker Staff, it is a better value than the Chapter packs and at a fairly low price point. The Chapter packs are advertised as 4x value (though they are arguably closer to 4.5x) whereas the Battle Pass is roughly 11x. Given it's very easy to complete you'll almost certainly get all of that value.

In earlier seasons, the value was a little bit lower, and because a good bit of the value is in scrolls, it is actually less useful as gear is the primary thing in the game holding you back. You will have the scrolls to upgrade long before you have all the gear unless you are spending quite a lot. At this point is was a maybe-purchase, good value but not as great as chapter packs. Now, this is simply a must-purchase item. Even when removing the scroll and coin value from the battle pass, it is still roughly 4.7x value and continues to be better than the Chapter packs by a slim margin despite it's much lower price point!

An increase in total value, it comes from the addition of Sapphires but unfortunately at the cost of 3x Golden Keys which is generally more useful than Sapphires.
