Dragons of Atlantis Spectral Ruins Guide

Updated on March 28, 2012

The Spectral Ruins in Dragons of Atlantis is Kabam's first step out of the Outpost model that they followed for the first five Outposts in the game. The Spectral Ruins are home to your Wraith Dragon, which is easily the most powerful Dragon in the game and is invaluable for players who enjoy fighting against other players. After you construct your Spectral Ruins, you will also be able to revive troops that are lost in PVP (Player vs. Player) battles. This guide will take you through setting up your Spectral Ruins.

Prerequisites

The requirements for creating a Spectral Ruins are:

The only difficult part is farming 100,000 Anthropus Talismans. One Anthropus Talisman drops for every 500 Anthropus you kill on an attack that includes your Great Dragon or an Elemental Dragon. Check out my guide to find out the best way to farm your 100,000 talismans.

Step by Step

Once you have your 100,000 talismans and control a high level forest (I suggest level 10), click on your "Empire" tab to pull up your Outpost list. Next to your city should be the Spectral Ruins. Click "Create."

Choose a Location

Next, you have to choose the location of your Outpost. Different players have different strategies about placement of their Outposts. The way that I play, I like having my Outpost somewhat close together. I, however, do not engage in a lot of PVP action. Players that are constant at war should consider starting their Spectral Ruins a decent distance away from their other Outposts and cities.

Tutorial

Once you choose a location, you will be taken through a tutorial that explains each next building and concept. You will also notice that your resource window in the top right of your screen there is a new resource. This is called "Blue Energy."

Blue Energy and Reaping Stone

In the Fields of your Spectral Ruins, there is only one kind of resource gathering building, the Reaping Stone. The Reaping Stone collects Blue Energy, which is used to summon your Wraith Dragon and to revive troops that are lost in player verses player combat. You start off with 11 slots in the field to build Reaping Stones, but as you upgrade your Dragon Alter, more slots open up in your field.

Dark Portals

Dark Portals are similar to training camps in other Dragons of Atlantis cities and Outposts. Instead of training troops, they allow you to revive a portion of the troops that you have lost during PVP combat. Higher level Dark Portals are required to be able to revive higher level troops. Like training camps, the more Dark Portals you have, the faster your troops will be revived.

Mausoleums

Mausoleums are where your lost troops souls are stored. Similar to Silos, Mausoleums can be upgraded to be able to store more souls. Only a portion of the troops souls that are lost in PVP battle will make it to the Mausoleums.

Build

Your build will really depend on your play style. As I am not very involved in Player vs. Player, I do not lose troops very often. For me, it would be more important for me to revive my troops quickly, so I will be building more Dark Portals (Training Camps) than Mausoleums (Silos). If you are very active in PVP and lose troops at a high rate, I would suggest building more Mausoleums than Dark Portals. If you aren't sure, go with a half and half build and then use some of the mass nullifiers that you probably have sitting around from playing Fortuna's Chance to tweak your build.

An added bonus to building your new Spectral Ruins is that you get a 10,000 power boost from the quest reward.

Anthropus Talismans

Even though you farmed 100,000 talismans to start your Spectral Ruins, you need to keep farming for them and build up a stash to upgrade your Wraith Dragon and then to eventually summon it to attack other players. To fully upgrade your Dragon Alter (where your Wraith Dragon hangs out), you will need 865,000 Anthropus Talismans. At this point in the game, you are probably farming for food every time you log in, so just make sure to take an extra second and send your Great and Elemental Dragons on your attacks to keep hording those talismans.

You need to use your 100,000 Anthropus Talismans to do the first upgrade of your Dragon Alter.

Where to Start

The first thing that you should work on in your Spectral Ruins is to build up your Reaping Stones. To summon your Wraith Dragon, you will need to have 1,700,000 Blue Energy. To have this much Blue Energy, you will need to have all of your Reaping Stones leveled up to at least level 9. While you are upgrading the Reaping Stones, you can also research new abilities in your Science Center to increase the speed in which you produce Blue Energy. To unlock all of the slots for Reaping Stones, you will need to have your Dragon Alter leveled up to level 9 or 10 as well, but that will take some time to farm the required Anthropus Talismans.

After you get all of your Reaping Stones leveled up, work on your city and level up your Mausoleums and Dark Portals.

Wraith Dragon Remains

To be able to attack with your Wraith Dragon, you need to find all four pieces of Wraith Dragon Remains, which are exactly like the Dragon Armor of other Elemental Dragons. You can obtain the armor by attacking level 7 and higher wildernesses with a Great or Elemental Dragon in your attack. Once you have all four pieces of remains and your Dragon Alter is level 8 or higher, you can summon your Wraith Dragon if you have 100,000 Anthropus Talsimans and 1,700,000 Blue Energy. You can only send the Wraith Dragon out on an attack by itself, meaning that you cannot send other troops with it on an attack.

        hi,

I got a question that doesn't quite have sth with this guide.

I own a Spectral Ruins now and I want to ask about reviving the troops. I understand I can revive troops that were lost in player vs. player. I read somewhere that I can recover souls from all troops that were lost in my City (Capital City that is).

Mostly I've lost some of my troops by defending my wall, my City. Can those troops also recover/revive in Spectral ruins? if so, why it doesn't want me to?

        Thanks for answer though.

        Regards
