Hustle Castle Dark Portal Farming Guide

Updated on October 12, 2018

Hustle Castle’s Dark Portal is an event that can be found on the map which opens every Friday. The event remains open until all of the Dark Souls have been collected from the Dark Portal. The amount of Dark Souls available is around hundreds of millions so it would take a couple of days before it gets closed.

Level 80 (Highest Dungeon Level in the Dark Portal)
Level 80 (Highest Dungeon Level in the Dark Portal)

The Dark Portal contains 80 different levels of dungeon. Each dungeon level costs a specific amount of apples. The higher the level of the dungeon is the higher will be the amount of apples required. Apple costs go higher as dungeon level increases but the rewards also get better as the dungeon level increases. However, it is not just the apples that increases as the dungeon level increases, the difficulty of the dungeon also increases. How to claim the reward? You just have to successfully complete a dungeon to earn Dark Souls.

Collected Dark Souls from the Dark Portal can be used to buy various items from the Dark Portal shop. The shop offers random rare items, shards, chests, spells, power-ups, crystals and dwellers. It also sells one epic item and one legendary item which both refreshes every time the Dark Portal opens. The shop is actually a good place to improve your equipment. You can get good rings from the shop and also, you can buy shards to craft legendary items. However, the cost of Dark Souls for each item is quite high. The price even increases as your throne room level increases. You definitely need to farm hard to buy something good from the shop. Don’t you worry though because this Dark Portal Farming guide will show you the most strategic way to farm Dark Souls in the Dark Portal.

Effectively grind in dungeon levels suited for your Throne Room Level

Dark Portal shop prices tend to increase as your Throne Room Level increases. To assure you are farming effectively, choose the highest dungeon level your characters can survive. Don’t choose levels where you need to use spells a lot to back up your characters especially levels where you need to use the Resurrection spell often. Choose a level where your characters don’t die at the end or at least, where your tanks can still survive even at the end. Dungeon levels which almost wipe out your entire army isn’t so ideal because it takes time for your army to recover. An ideal dungeon level would be 2 levels below your army’s power. Max out the level of your Fighters in your current throne room level to have a decent amount of power.

I have a list of the Dungeon Levels in the Dark Portal below. It may help you calculate which Dungeon Level is right for you.

Gather as much apples as you can even before the Dark Portal opens

The amount of Dark Souls you are able to farm is greatly limited by the amount of apples you are able to spend. Maxing out the level of your food gatherers is definitely not enough. Even if you can equip them with the best food gathering equipment on their level, it would just give you a few runs for Dark Portal farming. Here’s a few tips you can do to save apples for your Dark Portal Farming:

1.) Save apples by gathering chest rewards from sending gifts to friends.

Gift Sending Reward Chest
Gift Sending Reward Chest

Sending gifts to 10 different facebook friends rewards you a chest filled with resources such as apples, gold and wood. However, you are only limited to send gifts to 20 friends each day. That means you can save up to 2 chests per day. The amount of apples in the chest though depends on your throne room level but you can definitely do one additional Dark Portal run from it. Try looking for Hustle Castle groups in facebook in order for you to meet new players you can add as friends and send gifts eventually. Other than that, your friends can also send you resources as gifts. The more friends you have the more resources you will receive.

2.) Save apples by gathering chests from winning specific Dark Portal Dungeon Levels

Some dungeon levels in the Dark Portal rewards you a chest containing resources and items. Try saving these chests. Although it is not as effective as the chest rewards you get from sending gifts to friends, it would still make a huge difference once you’ve saved up enough chests.

3.) Spare some diamonds for apples

Food is the cheapest resource that you can buy with diamonds. It is a bit expensive compared to the other methods I’ve mentioned but if you’re looking to get good equipment from your Dark Portal runs, then you’d better be prepared in spending diamonds for additional runs.

Gather as much as chests and diamonds as you can for at least a month. Once you’ve saved a lot of apples, you’d be able to do a lot of runs in the Dark Portal as well as collect a lot of Dark Souls.

Invest in Dark Souls Multipliers

Triple Multiplier for Dark Souls Farming
Triple Multiplier for Dark Souls Farming

Dark Souls Multipliers cost too much diamonds but it is definitely worth it. You’ll definitely be able to maximize the amount of Dark Souls you can get for each run. However, you should only invest Dark Souls Multipliers if you have gathered a lot of chests filled with apples or diamonds to buy apples. If you are on a tight budget, a double multiplier would be fine. Use that to gather diamonds for the amount of diamonds you’ve spent on the multiplier and also, to buy apples for future runs.

This is definitely why it is recommended that you gather chests for a month. Doing so, you’ll be able to get at least 60 additional runs in a month of saving chests. In that way, you’ll be able to do an almost non-stop or multiple number of runs once the Dark Portal opens.

Start Grinding Hard in Throne Room Level 8

This is completely objective. Others would say start grinding hard in Throne Room Level 7 than 8. I would recommend to spend more time in Throne Room Level 8 in farming in Dark Portal than in Throne Room Level 7 because of gems. The amount of days you’d spend in staying in Throne Room Level 7 to farm in Dark Portal would be such a waste since you won’t be able to utilize it to get gems in the Gem Bay Area. Spend most of your time farming in Throne Room Level 8 to farm for epic shards, legendary items and diamonds. And also, don’t forget to upgrade your gems while you’re staying for a while in Throne Room Level 8.

There is definitely still a lot of things you can do to farm better in Dark Portal. However, I am pretty sure this Hustle Castle Dark Portal Farming guide is enough for your needs.

975k Power in Throne 8 is definitely a good amount of power. Ideally, that amount of power is more than enough the minimum amount of power need to farm Dark Souls fast in Hustle Castle's Dark Portal. Ofcourse, there will still be a lot of room to improve. Well, if you look at the season leaders, there are actually some throne 8 players that reaches more than 1M power. You would probably want to aim for that but 975k is definitely enough to farm in Dark Portal.

As for shards, I would suggest at least collecting such amount of epic shards which allows you to craft and fully equip 12 fighters. If you want to go more than that, then much better but its totally up to you. This will be good for your Gem Bay runs and also, you need a good amount of shards to craft good wands, amulets and rings. Once you have that amount, I'd suggest you rush to throne room level 10 then use those shards to craft for level 100's. Don't forget to collect diamonds for gem upgrades.

For badges, never use badges for master chests. I think its a waste of badges. Collect badges for legendary artifacts. 125k would be good if you're rushing to level 100.

      Thanks for the appreciation!

I am 975k power. I am throne 8 with 24 epic shards, 0 orange, 20K badges. I think I will spend all my badges at 9. 50k will be enough for 2 Master Chest.

So how much should I farm at throne 8 before move to 9?

How many shards : purple and orange, how many badges and how much power do I need?

      Thanks!

      Btw. Very good guide.
