Who Is Balmond?

Balmond is the strongest Bloodaxe Orc! He is extremely bloodthirsty and war-hungry. As such, he will participate in any bloody war. Since his body is exceedingly tough and unnaturally strong, he is confident that he will be able to stand atop the dead bodies at the end and soak in their blood.

What This Guide Covers

This guide not only lists all of Balmond’s skills and abilities, it also expands on each one of them and details some tips on how to use them effectively. That being said, it is up to you now whether to study them or not. Rampage through the war zone and soak in the blood of the enemies as the Berserker!

Bloodthirst (Passive Skill)

Balmond’s thirst for blood knows no bound. In fact, the more he soaks himself in the blood of his enemies, the more unvanquishable he becomes. With the Bloodthirst passive skill, Balmond regenerates 4% of his maximum HP every time he kills a minion. On the other hand, he regenerates 10% of his maximum HP whenever he kills an enemy hero.

Bloodthirst provides Balmond a great deal of survivability. While it is not as useful as the other tanks’ passive skills, it does allow Balmond to last longer and spring up faster from extremely low health. Since he's a hybrid fighter and tank, it makes sense that Balmond can recover some HP every time he makes a kill. To use this skill optimally, always make sure that there are minions around whenever you’re going in for the kill. It will ensure that you will recover some HP while dealing some damage. This also works for team clashes. The more enemies you can kill, the more HP you can recover—if you manage to survive!

Here’s an end note: If you ever find yourself low on HP, you don’t have to run back towards your base to recover some. All you have to do is clear out some minion waves or jungle monster nests to regain some quick HP.

Balmond Charging at the Enemy With His Soul Lock Skill

Balmond Charging at the Enemy With His Soul Lock Skill

Soul Lock (1st Skill)

Being a hardened Bloodaxe Orc, Balmond doesn’t think twice when it comes to pummeling the enemies to the ground. As such, he charges head first and thinks of the consequences later. Confident of his Soul Lock skill, he rushes in a straight line in front of him and deals 150 [+60% Total Physical ATK] physical damage to the enemies that dare get in his way. Additionally, once Balmond hits his target with this skill, the target’s movement speed is instantly slowed by 60% for 2.5 seconds.

  • Level 1: 150 Base Damage, 11 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 2: 175 Base Damage, 10 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 3: 200 Base Damage, 10 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 4: 225 Base Damage, 9 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 5: 250 Base Damage, 9 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 6: 275 Base Damage, 8 Seconds Cooldown

Soul Lock is a great mobility skill. It enables Balmond to cover some distance, deal damage, and slow down the enemies he collides with. Although it is not always easy to aim, it helps a lot if it ever connects. Also, it can be used as an escape tool!

Since this skill does not require any mana to use, it is very wise to use it every time it is available. You can also use Cyclone Sweep as a follow-up attack in order to gain some traction and deal some inescapable damage.

Balmond Swinging His Axe Wildly With Cyclone Sweep

Balmond Swinging His Axe Wildly With Cyclone Sweep

Cyclone Sweep (2nd Skill)

Using his enormous axe, Balmond swings it powerfully and continuously whirls like a cyclone for 3 seconds. This skill deals 80 [+37% Total Physical ATK] physical damage incessantly to the enemies it hits. Note that in this state, Balmond can freely move around to bring the onslaught onto his enemies.

  • Level 1: 80 Base Damage, 7 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 2: 105 Base Damage, 7 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 3: 130 Base Damage, 7 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 4: 155 Base Damage, 7 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 5: 180 Base Damage, 7 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 6: 205 Base Damage, 7 Seconds Cooldown

Cyclone Sweep is Balmond’s most powerful harassment skill. Once active, Balmond can hit multiple enemies and deal some extra damage. Not only can it be used to brutally harass enemy heroes, it can also be used to kill minions much quicker. Also, it synchronizes well with Bloodthirst to deliver you more HP. And since it has a very short cooldown, it is recommended that you use this skill as much as you can in order for you to deal consistent damage and recover HP—especially in the early stages of the game!

Here’s another tip: Whenever you’re in a clash with multiple enemies (especially close-ranged enemies), don’t hesitate to use this skill. By using Cyclone Sweep, you are sure to bring consistent damage to all your enemies and even give you the chance to go in for the kill with Lethal Counter (after canceling Cyclone Sweep) once their health bars are reasonably low.

Balmond Finishing Off an Enemy With His Lethal Counter Skill

Balmond Finishing Off an Enemy With His Lethal Counter Skill

Lethal Counter (Ultimate Skill)

With all his might and rage, Balmond raises a giant axe from the ground to annihilate his enemies. This skill deals 350 [+50% Total Physical ATK] physical damage to the enemies in a fan-shaped area in front of him. Additionally, this skill deals 20% of the HP already lost by the enemies as true damage and reduces their movement speed by 60% for 2 seconds. Note that this skill can deal a maximum of 1300 damage to non-hero enemy units.

  • Level 1: 350 Base Damage, 40 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 2: 500 Base Damage, 33 Seconds Cooldown
  • Level 3: 650 Base Damage, 26 Seconds Cooldown

Lethal Counter is Balmond’s most lethal skill. It only has one purpose—to annihilate the enemies! Thus, this skill truly shines whenever you are in the presence of low-HP heroes. If this skill doesn’t instantly kill them, it slows them down considerably, giving you enough time to make sure they won’t be able to make it out alive.

In team clashes, Lethal Counter is also a very fearsome skill. Since you’re a tank, it is easy for you to last longer than everyone else. Once you see the golden opportunity of having all your enemy heroes’ HP bars in the red, then you can quickly use this skill to annihilate them all instantly!
