How to unlock and expertise these commanders?

Ways to Unlock Epic Commanders

Ways to Unlock Epic Commanders

As usual, you’ll need at least 10 sculptures of a commander to summon that commander. Once you are able to unlock any of these epic commanders, you can either use a commander’s distinct sculpture or an epic commander sculpture to max out their skills. Epic tiered sculptures are pretty common in Rise of Kingdoms so it definitely won’t take too much to time to expertise each of these commanders. Apart from the 10 sculptures used to summon these commanders, you just need 390 sculptures to expertise them.

Anyway, here are ways you can earn a Commander Sculpture or Epic Sculpture:

  1. Expedition – The Medal Store in the Expedition features one epic commander for a couple of weeks. If you have enough medals from the Expedition, then you’ll easily be able to expertise your commander since the amount of sculptures you can get from the store is unlimited.
  2. Tavern - Drop rates for epic commanders in the game are pretty decent. You should be able get a decent number of commander sculptures by opening Silver and Golden Chests.
  3. Events – There are various events in the game that you can participate in to get rewarded with epic sculptures. You’ll have to watch out for the monthly events since you can get rewarded up to 100 epic sculptures. Try to complete all of the tasks for these events and you’ll surely expertise your cavalry commander in no time.

1.) Pelagius

Spain's Epic Cavalry Commander, Pelagius, may easily be the best epic cavalry commander in Rise of Kingdoms. His active skill does not only deal excellent damage to a target, but it also increases his rage restoration. Plus, he also has decent damage sustain ability due defensive cavalry skill and healing skill. He is an excellent nuking cavalry commander with decent defensive ability.

Although Pelagius specialize in city garrison due to his garrison skill and talent tree, I don't recommend him as a Garrison Commander in your city. There are far better garrison commanders in the epic tier. An epic commander that I would recommend is Sun Tzu. However, as much as possible, just keep your city from danger, and you won't probably need that city garrison commander that much.

Recommended Talent Build

Since Pelagius is a powerful nuking cavalry commander, his recommended talent build should focus on the Skill and Cavalry Talent Trees. You can check out this Pelagius Talent Tree Build Guide.

Recommended Commander Pairing

  1. Legendary Tier - (Nuking Cavalry Commanders) Cao Cao, Minamoto, Genghis Khan, William I, Chandragupta
  2. Epic Tier - (Nuking Cavalry Commander) Baibars

2.) Belisarius

The Byzantine Empire's general, Belisarius, is also an excellent cavalry commander in Rise of Kingdoms. He is the best epic cavalry commander when it comes to hunting barbarians or neutral units. Although he specializes in Peacekeeping, he is still a decent cavalry commander in the open-field due to this debuffs and excellent mobility.

As I've mentioned, Belisarius' greatest strength is barbarian and neutral hunting. Events that entail killing barbarians or rallying forts will be an easy task for Belisarius due to his bonus damage against barbarians and neutral units. However, I wouldn't strongly recommend him in one on one open-field battles. But if its an all out war, then his debuffs will definitely be helpful.

Recommended Talent Build

I would recommend using Belisarius mainly as a Peacekeeping Commander and second as a debuffer in open-field battles. Thus, I would recommend focusing on building his Cavalry Talent Tree and a mix of talents from the Peacekeeping and Mobility Talent Trees. Recommended Commander Pairing

  1. Legendary Tier - (Peacekeeping Cavalry Commanders) Cao Cao, Minamotor / (Debuffing Cavalry Commanders) Attila, Takeda, (Non Cavalry Peacekeeping Commander) Aethelflaed
  2. Epic Tier - (Peacekeeping Commanders) Lohar, Boudica

3.) Baibars

The Sultan from Egypt and Syria, Baibars, is another epic cavalry commander in Rise of Kingdoms. Like Pelaguis, he is also a powerful nuker. He might probably be better than Pelagius in terms of nuking due to his ability to deal powerful AOE skill damage. It is definitely no wonder why he would be an excellent commander in an open-field battle.

There is no doubt that Baibars is a very powerful nuking cavalry commander. In fact, the AOE skill damage that his active skills deals to up to 5 target is almost on par with a few of the legendary commander's active skill. However, like most powerful nuking commanders, they have subpar defensive abilities as compared to their offensive ability. This definitely one of the challenges when using Baibars. Apart from that, I strongly do not recommend using him in rallying enemy cities. He does have a Conquering Skill, but it still won't do any good in rallying cities. Legendary Commanders will always be the recommended rally leaders against cities and reinforced structures.

Recommended Talent Build

The recommended talent build for Baibars would be the same as Pelagius. As I've mentioned, he isn't a good conquering commander. Thus, his talent build should focus more on the Skill and Cavalry Talent Trees than the Conquering Talent Tree. Please check out our Baibars Talent Tree Build Guide.

Recommended Commander Pairing
