Sword Build in "Dragon's Dogma" for Solo Hard Mode

Just a robot girl that likes thinking and plays a bit of RPGs when there's nothing else to do.

Challenges

  • No pawns - Is this a challenge? No. After you beat the game with any vocation solo, you will know the pawns don't make much difference. Moreover, you level up faster.
  • No consumables - This is a challenge initially. Learn how to win every battle. Once you do, you will enjoy it to the extent that it won't seem like a restriction.
  • Swords only - "If you can only do one thing, own it to perfection."
  • Hard Mode - It is a good way to get gold and experience faster.

So the game is not harder with all these by any means. Moreover, I do not restrict any farming. Any game should be fun first of all.

Leveling

  • 1-40 Fighter
  • 41-90 Warrior
  • 91-130 Fighter
  • 131-200 Assassin

We will have these stats. This leveling is focused on Health and Attack. Stamina is not required as there will be little time to use it. And having 200 additional Defense won't make much of a difference, whereas 200 extra Attack will.

Skills

Here are the skills you should have for various classes.

Fighter

  • Full Moon's Slash - Why block when you can attack and not get hit? This skill offers everything one would want. It is fast and gives invincibility frames. It has an area of effect and deals sufficient damage.
  • Dragon's Maw - The one and only source of damage. It gives invincibility frames as well. It takes a lot of stamina though. So, use it strategically.
  • Steel Will - This is good because it also halves the Magick damage.

Warrior

  • Corona Slash - This is pretty useful to knock enemies down.
  • Indomitable Lash - A quick and powerful attack. What else do you need?

Assassin

  • Full Moon's Slash - See above. This one is a must.
  • Powder Blast - This is skill is good in some occasions. It helps in fighting flying creatures. If you are lucky to get its third tier, the skill becomes much more powerful. It can be used mid-combat to do significant AOE damage.
  • Dire Gouge - A boss killer. It will not help you kill every boss but those susceptible will be wrecked (Chimeras, Gazer, Grigori).

Suggested Walkthrough

Unimportant quests without killing are not mentioned. Some useful tips can be found here.

  1. Discard all the DLC items and run to the Encampment. Do all the quests there; they are pretty simple.
  2. Run to the Waycastle and farm goblins around it for Discipline Points. Repeat it several times.
  3. Go to the Bitterblack Isle as you won't make it further with the main quest. Use the notice board in the Bitterblack Isle Harbor to get some easy levels. Run through the Garden of Ignominy. Farm chests in Duskmoon Tower and Rotunda of Dread. Learn Bastion and start carefully killing goblins in the Garden of Ignominy. Buy the best gear from Barroch and learn Fortitude.
  4. Get to Gran Soren and complete two Wyrm Hunt quests. The Cypher and Seeking Salvation will be fairly easy.
  5. Deliver the Gold Idol to Caxton. After that, you will be able to buy good weapons.
  6. Farm goblins to get Sanctuary and kill the Griffin.
  7. (Optional) Farm the Midnight Helix for Bitterblack Weapon Lv.1.
  8. Confront Salomet. He is tricky. After you kill 6 minions there will be a short window to attack him. Don't waste it.
  9. At this point, I suggest killing the Gazer. Climb to win. After you kill him, you will have access to the Black Abbey. Farm Gorecyclops. There is also a chest, dropping Bitterblack Weapon Lv. 2.
  10. At around level 80 you can go and finish the main storyline (Deny Salvation and The Final Battle). The Magick Sanctuary Setup is what I suggest.
