"Pokémon X and Y" Walkthrough: Lysandre Labs

It was bound to happen. Team Flare is making its move, and Lysandre has been revealed as the team's leader. (Was there ever any doubt?) They're planning on deploying an "ultimate weapon" to bring ruin down upon the world, and it's up to you to bring them down for good.

Anistar City

  • When you leave the Anistar City Gym you'll get a message explaining the situation, as well as a hint as to your next destination. Fly to Lumiose City.

Lumiose City

  • Head to the Cafe Lysandre in Magenta Plaza, accessible via the Northern Boulevard. You'll know it by the dark red colour of the facade . . . as well as the Team Flare Grunt out front. Make sure you're healed before you enter.
  • Talk to the waiters inside. They're not friendly.

Team Flare Grunt

Scrafty, level 46

Reward: $1,840

Team Flare Grunt

Liepard, level 46

Reward: $1,840

Both are a piece of cake, with Scrafty taking the lead. Shrug.

Beat them both, then check the shelf beside the female Grunt. You'll reveal a secret passage.

Lysandre Labs

  • Walk ahead. Lysandre is waiting.

Team Flare Lysandre

Mienfoo, level 45

Murkrow, level 45

Pyroar, level 47

Gyarados, level 49

Reward: $9,800

Yikes. Lysandre is a fair step up from his Grunts. Mienfoo and Murkrow are no big deal, but Pyroar can put a decent hurt on you if you don't quickly swamp it with a Ground- or Water-type move. Fighting also works, if needed. Gyarados can be a massive problem, as it has a horribly-strong Outrage move and a high Speed stat. Take it down quickly with an Electric-type move. Barring that, Rock-type moves aren't terrible.

  • Time for a maze. If you step on the floor tiles past this point they'll shuttle you along until you hit a wall and stop or hit another floor tile and change directions. Always fun, these. Start by stepping on the tile up and to your left which points left.
  • There's a Grunt here.

Team Flare Grunt

Swalot, level 46

Reward: $1,849

A rather minimal problem. Swalot likes to Stockpile on its first turn; plenty of time to take it down with a special attack or a strong Ground-type attack.

  • Step on the teleportation pad. It'll shift you to a familiar scientist.

Team Flare Aliana

Mightyena, level 46

Druddigon, level 48

Reward: $6,720

Mightyena is a nuisance at best. Druddigon is the real threat here; beware Dragon-types move and a surprise Shadow Claw.

  • Beyond here are two teleportation pads. Step on the green one. The other pad takes you back to the start.
  • Hop on the pad that takes you north. A Grunt is waiting.

Team Flare Grunt

Swalot, level 45

Liepard, level 43

Reward: $1,720

Meh. Swalot is a bit problematic, as always, though not for long.

  • Enter the room to the north. You'll receive a small bundle of Revives from, uh . . . yeah.
  • Head back to the main room. Take the pad pointing right, then down. Go west from here to find a sleeping room. The Grunt here will give you TM 12, Taunt. Also here is a Revive. Last, you can sleep in the beds.
  • Back outside. Head east to find a trainer.

Team Flare Grunt

Liepard, level 44

Mightyena, level 44

Reward: $1,760

You know how to wipe the floor with pure Dark-types by now.

  • Walk north. Another trainer waits to your right.

Team Flare Grunt

Houndoom, level 44

Toxicroak, level 44

Reward: $1,760

Glass cannons! Toxicroack can be rather annoying with Sucker Punch. Wipe them out quickly.

  • Step on the pad pointing right next to the Grunt. Keep following the pads to another Grunt.

Team Flare Grunt

Manectric, level 43

Scrafty, level 45

Reward: $1,800

Manectric and its paralysis can be annoying. Not much here otherwise.

  • Go through the north door. There are two more familiar scientists waiting.

Team Flare Celosia

Manectric, level 46

Drapion, level 48

Reward: $6,720

Manectric is standard fare by now. Drapion is probably a new one; a Ground-type move will flatten it. Watch out for Night Slash bolstered by Acupressure.

Team Flare Bryony

Liepard, level 46

Bisharp, level 48

Reward: $6,720

Liepard is old hat. Bisharp is new, but it's much easier to beat than Drapion. A Fighting-type move will flatten it for four times damage.

  • Info dump. Head back into the hall and take the first pad from the left that's pointing south. Follow the path here to the southwest without touching any pads. You'll find Black Glasses and hit another Grunt.

Team Flare Grunt

Mightyena, level 43

Toxicroak, level 45

Reward: $1,800

How many times do you have to face these guys?! Usual strategies.

  • There's a teleport pad beside this guy. It leads to a room with a Rare Candy.
  • Return to the previous room with the last Grunt and use the westbound pad to get back to the Grunt you beat earlier. Hop onto the downwards panel to the right of the Grunt. Hop on the teleportation pad when you stop moving to find a Hyper Potion.
  • Return to the previous area. Hop on the left pad pointing south. Trainer is waiting.

Team Flare Grunt

Golbat, level 46

Reward: $1,840

A single Golbat? Pffft!

  • Hop on the teleport pad. One more trainer.

Team Flare Grunt

Toxicroak, level 44

Liepard, level 44

Reward: $1,760

These guys again? Yawn. Use your usual strategies.

  • Head right, into one last room. The final scientist!

Team Flare Mable

Houndoom, level 46

Weavile, level 48

Reward: $6,720, Elevator Key

If you have a Fighting-type, you're golden. If not, water and fire are good substitutes. Both of these Pokémon hit hard but can't absorb much damage in return.

  • Beat Mable and you'll earn the Elevator Key.
  • Go back to the previous warp pad. It'll take you back to a spot that's very close to the beginning of the maze. Hop on the elevator once you're there and descend to B2.
  • Watch the cut scene. Hop back onto the elevator and descend to B3. Prepare for a fight.

Team Flare Xerosic

Crobat, level 46

Malamar, level 48

Reward: $6,720

A potentially painful battle, this. Crobat is very frail, but it can hit very hard with Cross Poison, and Air Slash can potentially make your Pokémon flinch and waste a turn. Kill it quickly with a speedy Electric- or Psychic-type, or at least deploy something that's not much affected by Poison. Steel is great. Malamar is a fair pain with Superpower, but it doesn't quite have the offensive bulk to make the most of the move.

  • Push one of the two buttons behind Xerosic after the battle to trigger a cut scene. Ah, so that's what those were.
  • Leave Lysandre Labs. You're off to Geosenge Town.

Just in case it lives to a second turn, Celosia's Manetric knows Flamethrower.

If you mean Lysandre Labs period, you need to beat the two 'Grunts' (the waiters) who are standing in the cafe. If you mean the Elevator Key, Mable has it. You have to make your way through the maze.

Where do I get the Key to get in to the lab to beat the flare team??
