The journey continues! You've successfully wandered through Santalune Forest, and now you're on your way to the city of the same name. How many Pokémon have you caught? Well, here's a chance to grab some more, just in case you're aching for more action.
Route 3 – Ouvert Way
- After leaving Santalune you'll come upon this small route. North of where you come out you'll hit a trainer battle.
Preschooler Oliver
Caterpie, level 2
Azurill, level 4
Reward: $64
Almost a shame to pound this kid so thoroughly. Nevertheless, he's a pushover.
- And past him, another trainer.
Preschooler Ella
Pichu, level 5
Reward: $80
Ow. This little guy can hurt if you chose Froakie. Nevertheless, he's very fragile.
- Go down the stairs to the north. Note the bush beside the stairs. You'll be able to Cut this down eventually.
- South of the stairs is a trainer.
Schoolgirl Bridget
Bidoof, level 6
Reward: $192
If you're a little weak, this Bidoof can actually provide a bit of a challenge. Straightforward battle otherwise.
- Jump down the cliffs by the trainer to find a Super Potion.
- On your way back up through the grass you'll meet another trainer.
Schoolboy Brighton
Pansage, level 3
Pansear, level 3
Panpour, level 3
Reward: $96
His elemental Pokémon might be a challenge if they weren't at such a low level. Oh well, money's nice.
- Head north and you'll arrive aaaaat . . .
Santalune City
- First up, heal your Pokémon. The Pokémon Center is right near the entrance. You can also purchase more items from the Poke Mart in the back, though I wouldn't recommend the X items just yet—they're expensive, and you don't really need them at this stage in the game. Last, you can change clothes in here . . .
- . . .and you can buy more clothes in the store next to the Pokémon Center. I highly recommend not splurging on extra clothes this early in the game. They're expensive.
- There are two houses to the west of the entrance. You'll learn a few things in them, but there's nothing of importance inside overall.
- North of these houses, though, is another one—and inside a man will trade a Farfetch'd for a Bunnelby. Farfetch'd aren't great Pokémon, but a traded pokemon will grow in strength quickly, and this one can be very useful for the upcoming gym. (Bunnelby aren't exactly rare anyway. Why not?)
- East of this house, past the central fountain, is yet another house. A boy inside will give you a Great Ball.
- North of the fountain is the Trainer School. You can learn many of the basics in here. The older man inside will give you three X Attacks and three X Defenses.
- On a hill in the northwest part of town is an outdoor restaurant. Check the light post for an Antidote, and check the small cluster of flowers on the ground directly east of the light post for a Great Ball. Last, check the flower box out front of the restaurant for a Super Potion. (Thanks to Cats777 for this last one.)
- In the northeast of town is the local gym. In order to get inside you'll have to defeat . . .
Roller Skater Rinka
Zigzagoon, level 7
Reward: $224, Roller Skates
Just another Zigzagoon. Piece of cake.
Upon beating this girl she'll give you Roller Skates. You can use the Roller Skates to quickly move around on paved terrain. They'll automatically be deployed if you use the joystick on your 3DS. Handy.
If you can defeat Rinka with ease, you'll have no trouble with the Santalune Gym. Time for your first gym battle! Onward!
Return Trip – Route 3
- On the other side of the patch of water to the left of the entrance is a Dawn Stone.
- The tree you can Cut is blocking a Revive.

Oh thank you, I've been looking for a dawn stone for ages, now I can finally evolve Kirlia and have an awesome Gallade/Gardevoir duo.

Really? Yikes. Thanks. I knew I'd be revisiting these early ones again once I had more info, but I didn't think I'd missed THAT many... oh well, gotta love the edit button...
