Skyrim Skill Training: How to Train Conjuration

This is my conjured Wrathman.

Conjuration is a very useful skill and is easily trained. I keep a conjured creature hot-keyed at all times, because they make great distractions. On the other hand, conjured weapons never seemed worthwhile to me, because I do not mind the extra weight from real weapons.

I do not suggest training conjuration with a trainer. A trainer as a follower is only available with the Dragonborn expansion, so unless you have that, it's going to be costly. Even if you do have that expansion, you should not waste one of your five training sessions on conjuration given the following method. Nonetheless, I will include details on how to find trainers at the bottom of this article.

Train conjuration with a conjured sword or dagger

It's really not all that complicated to train conjuration. Acquire a conjure sword spell and keep it hot-keyed. Whenever you are running from place to place, summon it, sheathe it, and summon it again. I usually do this when I'm sprinting long distances (for whatever reason). I do it while stamina regenerates.

Use the conjure sword spell, because it takes the least amount of magic for conjure spells that can easily be canceled. If you have Dragonborn, you may acquire a conjure dagger spell. I would suggest getting this instead, considering it requires even less magic than the sword. You may acquire both of these spell tomes from the trainers I will list below, respectively.

Equip clothing that increases magic regeneration, or similarly makes it easier to cast bound items more quickly. You may want to consider waiting an hour to replenish your magic.

How to train conjuration with a trainer

I will now provide detailed information on how to locate trainers who will charge you to automatically level up a skill. Trainers can be used a maximum of five times per player level. This means that at any given level, you may only train any combination of skills five times. If you train conjuration five times, you cannot train enchanting until you level. I will not provide all trainers, but instead provide the most efficient and easily accessible trainers only.

I do not advise you to use a trainer, but it would be reasonable to do so if you have the Dragonborn expansion and use the second trainer below. I otherwise strongly urge you to use the aforementioned method.

Train conjuration with Falion up to Level 90

Falion is easily found via the pictures below, and he does not require any quests to begin training. I advise you not to waste your money. Instead buy a bound sword from him, and use the aforementioned method.

Train conjuration with Talvas Fathryon up to Level 90

Unlike Falion, it may be worth training conjuring with Talvas, because at least you can take your money back from Talvas' inventory after you make him your follower. You will need the Dragonborn expansion, or this is not an option. If you have it, use the images below to locate Talvas. You will need to kill an ash guardian he accidentally summons before he will train you or sell you the bound dagger. It may take a minute for him to summon the guardian after you exhaust his dialogue a few times. I was about to give up when he finally summoned it for me, so be patient.

Conclusion on conjuration

If you discover other methods to train conjuration, please feel free to comment below. I may have chosen to exclude certain tactics to train conjuration (e.g. skill books), because those methods require a lot of research or are more convoluted than this simple tutorial. I may choose to update this article with more advise in the future. In the meantime, please consider following some of my other Skyrim tutorials!
