The Sims 4: Spa Day Game Pack Review
Spa days, spa days—dear old "mmmm" and "ahhh" days. I think most of us would jump at the chance for a spa day. A day out getting pampered—what's not to love?
Unfortunately, in this busy world, not many of us have the time or money for a spa. If you can't get out enough for a massage, a little sauna time, or yoga classes, you can now live vicariously through your Sims.
The Sims 4: Spa Day game pack was released in July of 2015, and if you haven't tried it yet, you should give it a go. It is a fun pack with lots of new things for your Sims to do. I like it much more than I thought I would. Let me tell you about it.
Welcome to the Spa
New Venue and Build Items
Spa Day doesn't come with a new world for your Sims to explore, but it does offer a brand new venue. The ready-made Perfect Balance Spa will be in your library, and you can plop it on almost any lot. It is a beautiful two-story building with a peaceful atmosphere and all kinds of activities—be prepared for your Sims to spend many hours there!
If you're not crazy about the pre-built spa, you can change it or build your own. This pack comes with a ton of new spa- and wellness-related fitness items such as massage tables and chairs, meditation stools, incense, and saunas.
If your Sims don't want to go out to the spa, you can bring the spa to them. With these build items, you can spruce up your home gym and practice wellness at home. Alternatively, have your Sim tote along a yoga mat to someplace scenic for a little workout.
In all, there are well over 100 new build items and a whole slew of new workout apparel in Create-a-Sim mode. You get a lot of bang for your buck here.

New Wellness Skill
The Spa Day game pack offers some new activities for your Sim to learn that will build the new game skill: wellness. To gain levels in the wellness skill, your Sim needs to practice meditation and yoga.
Sims who master wellness will be able to cook special health food recipes, brew detox teas, give wellness advice, and give massages to other Sims for free (if there is a massage table or reflexology chairs available). Since massages are pretty expensive, ranging from 140 to 300 simoleons, this can come in very handy for other members of the household.
Your Sims with a high-level wellness skill will also be able to do some cool stuff like levitating and teleporting to different locations!
Sims Can Take a Yoga Class or Buy a Mat to Practice Anywhere
Some other things your Sim can enjoy with the Spa Day pack include mud baths, aquariums, burning incense, or relaxing in a soothing sauna. Just don't stay in the sauna too long—the prolonged heat can kill your Sim!
All these health and wellness activities will give your Sims positive moodlets, many of which will stick around for hours. Health and wellness activities are a great way to help your Sim calm down after a stressful day, get them focused on an important task, or cheer them up after bad news.
The sauna introduces a new place where you Sims can woohoo. Also, Sims looking to get pregnant, or who want to have twins or triplets, can increase their odds if they get a fertility massage before trying for a baby.
I Get Relaxed Just Watching My Sims Enjoying a Spa Day
No game pack is perfect, and there were a couple of things that disappointed me about The Sims 4: Spa Day. It's not that there was anything wrong with what is in the game pack; I am a bit sad about what was left out.
Unfortunately, your Sim can't own a spa as a business, or practice wellness as a living. I thought that would be such a great career path for a Sim, but it's just not there.
I did find an excellent mod for this career. It's a "rabbit hole" career, meaning your Sim disappears to go to work for the day. The mod requires you have both Spa Day and The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat to use it, but if you have both these packs, I highly recommend it. You can download it here for free, but please take note—this is fan-made content, not official content from the game creators.

Is It Worth It?
The Sims 4: Spa Day was not one of the first packs I ran out to buy. I thought it would be boring, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am delighted with this game pack, and with the fact that it all seems to work pretty well. I haven't had nearly as many glitches with this pack as with some of the other packs.
If you like the idea of expanding on fitness and wellness activities for your Sim, this will be a great pack for you, and I highly recommend it.
