The cutting edge. You’ve opted to drop your sim into the Tech Guru career, the most up-to-date job in the game. Your sim will have to have an ample dose of brains and interpersonal charm (mostly brains) to thrive in this environment of computers, apps, hacks, and gaming. Make the effort, though, and your sim will do quite well for themselves… especially as far as royalties are concerned.

One thing: expect to repair your computer a lot.

A sim in Tech Guru will make good use of any Knowledge Aspiration, though Nerd Brain and Computer Whiz are the better bets for optimization purposes. Genius, Geek, Perfectionist, and to a smaller extent Loner all work nicely as Traits, though Loner is only recommended if your sim has a small family and no interest in forming long-lasting relationships. (Easily, anyway.)

Below is a listing of the tiers in Tech Guru. Please note that a single sim can never explore both branches of Tech Guru without reloading their game to a point before the sim was promoted past Tech Guru’s halfway point. You need two sims to see it all.

Tech Guru

  • Ideal Mood: Focused
  • Daily Task: Use computer (Tech Guru); Play Video Games (eSports Gamer); (Startup Entrepreneur)

Level 1 - Live Chat Support Agent

  • Wage: $31 / hour
  • Time: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Days: Tuesday - Saturday
  • Bonus: None

Have fun talking to angry customers. To reach the second tier of Tech Guru your sim must play video games for four hours. You’ll need a computer to do this. (What difficult job prep this be.)

Level 2 - Quality Assurance

  • Wage: $38 / hour
  • Time: 10:00 am - 7:00 pm
  • Days: Monday - Friday
  • Bonus: $375, Stainless Steel Auto-Pot

Not much better. Your sim must reach level two in the Programming skill and Practice Programming for four hours. You’ll easily reach Programming two by Practicing Programming for four hours. In either case you’ll need a computer.

So close to a managerial role. To move up another notch your sim must improve their Programming skill to level four and Mod two Games. As ever, this stuff requires a working computer.

Level 5 - Project Manager

  • Wage: $73 / hour
  • Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Days: Monday - Friday
  • Bonus: $760, The Hipster Hugger

You’re a boss! To continue climbing the corporate ladder your sim must reach level five in Programming and complete three Plugins on their computer.

Level 6 - Development Captain

  • Days: Monday - Friday
  • Bonus: $874, Innovator’s Award for Excellence in Science

You’re even more of a boss! To progress your sim will need to hit level six in the Programming Skill and complete two Freelance Jobs on your computer.

Finish up this rank and, starting with level seven of Tech Guru, your job will split in two potential directions.

Hi.. I noticed from the start of havnig this phone that I could not put it into recovery/download mode. Ive tried every steps I found on the internet. (vol up+home+power), (vol down+home+power), vol up+vol down+power) etc.. So rooted my sgs using the one click rooting software. It worked fine. So when I wanted to install the lag fix, I use the same one click root software but replaced the rooting file with the lag fix file. It also worked fine and my sgs was fast and snappy! Also my intro samsung logo graphics was not visible but there was sound other than that everything worked fine.Yesterday I was curious on what will happen if I run the MDS lag fix again. I selected the 1024kb option and it started to create 1gb file again and an error occurred and my sgs stalled. I pull out the battery and restart. Came out the samsung galaxy s GT-1900 intro screen. Intro sound effects came out.. nthen blank screen all the way! Its not booting to the home screen . Ive tried batt pull and recovery/download mode combo buttons many times! Nothing works.. it just starts up the intro screen + sound and dark evil black screen I don't know what else to do. Hope you can give any advice. Im running out of buttons to experiment! I think I have officially bricked it. Even flashing wont work until I get my recovery/download mode work in the first place. :'(
