FM17: Top 10 Young Strikers to Watch Out For

Updated on November 01, 2016

As Football Manager 2017 is on the way, drawing near with the Beta version already available for play, l will like to use this article to share the most powerful young strikers you need to sign in the new game.

FM17 has been a blast, with its beta version having a new range of features gaining grounds to beat the FM16 version. After all, that’s what it’s supposed to be; every year improvement.

The strikers to be presented on this list are of age range of 19 – 24, with each possessing a fine quality. Irrespective of this range of age, they are powerful enough to impact the team and change the game. Placing the ball at the back of the net is not much of a problem once they get the chance. Some of them are going to be hard to get at the starting season of the game, but besides that, they are the best signings you can make.

Rate Football Manager 2017

3.7 out of 5 stars from 3 ratings of Football Manager 2017

1) Luciano Vietto

  • Born (age): Dec 5, 1993 (22)
  • Nationality: Argentina/Italy
  • Club: Sevilla FC (on loan from Atlético Madrid)
  • Position: ST(C)
  • Foot: right
  • Value: €14M

This lad was absolutely deadly in FM16, to the extent that he almost scored in every match. As it is, he’s more powerful in the new FM17 with an excellent finishing ability. The real thing is that he won’t come cheap, and luring him from Los Colchoneros will be hard but he’s worth a try. Both his current and potential rating stars are great, including his attributes. Playing Vietto as a Trequartista or as Poacher is more suitable for him in FM17.

2) Harry Kane

  • Born (age): Jul 28, 1993 (23)
  • Nationality: England
  • Club: Tottenham Hotspur
  • Position: ST(C), LW
  • Foot: right
  • Value: €41M

Harry, the young Londoner, was superb in last season’s English Premier League, scoring over 20 goals which helped Spurs secure a 3rd place finish. This achievement has been a plus for him in FM17. Looking at the above screenshot, it’s clear that his abilities make him a type of striker that can score and also assist as well. His work rate, fitness, and stamina are really amazing, making him a perfect Target Man. However, he can adapt to any tactics easily.

Kane is really expensive and it may be difficult for Spurs to sell such a young key player. But you should try and see what happens in your FM17 save.

3) Kelechi Iheanacho

  • Born (age): Oct 3, 1996 (20)
  • Nationality: Nigeria
  • Club: Manchester City
  • Position: ST(C)
  • Foot: left
  • Value: €32M

This fella still maintains a spot on my shortlist (Top Best Young Strikers) since 2015. His performances and development were excellent in both FM15 and 16. Viewing his FM17 profile, he improved more on attributes, and appreciated much more in market value when compared to FM16. He's outstanding in Advanced Forward role.

Besides his young age, Iheanacho’s really a powerful CF but signing him permanently from City won’t be easy. Getting him on loan seems a bit easier once you have enough wage budget. He’s going to request above €50K per week.

4) Paulo Dybala

  • Born (age): Nov 15, 1993 (22)
  • Nationality: Argentina/Italy
  • Club: Juventus FC
  • Position: ST(C), AM(C)
  • Foot: left
  • Value: €41.5M

This Argentine is one of the rising stars anticipated to match the likes of Luis Suarez in future. In frontline, he’s a dangerous Complete Forwarder. His passing skill and vision are fantastic, making him an excellent candidate of False 9 role. Not only can he be a lone striker, Dybala is a versatile attacker; he can play in both wings or draw back as an Attacking Midfielder.

It’s really going to be impossible for The Old Ladies to open negotiations in the starting season of the game. But, they may be open to accept higher bids in the following seasons. If you can lure this lad, you have my blessings.

5) Mauro Icardi

FM17 Profile Screenshot of Icardi

  • Born (age): Feb 19, 1993 (23)
  • Nationality: Argentina/Italy
  • Club: Inter Milan
  • Position: ST(C)
  • Foot: right
  • Value: €31M

Icardi has the perfect Finishing, First Touch, and Decisions to be a deadly Advanced Forwarder in FM17. He was sensational in FM16, but was really hard to catch. His attributes increased a bit in some skills when compared to the prior FM version. And he also has room for more development with market value rise. So, signing him will be an great profit in any way.

Inter Milan will be willing to listen to higher bids in the first season. So, you must place a good bid before they consider. No doubt Icardi is going to stress your transfer budget, but he’s worth every penny.

6) Alvaro Morata

  • Born (age): Oct 23, 1992 (24)
  • Nationality: Spain
  • Club: Real Madrid
  • Position: ST(C), LW
  • Foot: both
  • Value: €37.5M

This Spanish resilient striker launched himself to the top after making a huge impact in Juventus first team. At just 21 years of age, he contributed a lot in firing the team to UCL final and clinching the domestic league title. He’s really an amazing striker in FM17; a superb Poacher with a stunning pace.

Moreover, it will be almost impossible to sign Morata at the starting season since Blancos just acquired his services in the 2016 summer transfer. So, you have to wait for next season. More importantly, buying this goal scorer will be a great boost to your team. Catch him if you can.

7) Romelu Lukaku

  • Born (age): May 13, 1993
  • Nationality: Belgium/Congo
  • Club: Everton FC
  • Position: ST(C)
  • Foot: left
  • Value: €39M

This young lad is a specialist in driving the ball home. He usually shoots or heads the ball home; a good header to be precise. In FM17, he’s labelled as a Target Man but he’s more dangerous in Advanced Forward role. He also has that pace to beat the opponent whilst knocking the ball.

It will be very difficult to get this player in the starting game because of his important status at Everton. Unfortunately, The Blues don’t have a perfect replacement for him. Though you have to try a bid in your save and see what happens.

8) Vincent Janssen

  • Born (age): Jun 15, 1994 (22)
  • Nationality: Netherlands
  • Club: Tottenham Hotspur
  • Position: ST(C)
  • Foot: both
  • Value: €12.25M

This interesting Dutch striker is also good as a Complete Forwarder as Dybala. His adaptability is good, and a bit affordable in terms of market value. Janssen’s Finishing and First Touch are good. He also has a superb Work Rate, which is a tremendous advantage as an attacker.

Because he’s a new signing of Spurs, trying him on loan may be the only possible option in the first season. But, making Vincent a part of your team won’t be regrettable at all. No need to think twice when you get the budget to sign him.

9) Timo Werner

FM17 Profile Screenshot of Werner

  • Born (age): Mar 6, 1996 (20)
  • Nationality: Germany
  • Club: RB Leipzig
  • Position: ST(C), LW, RW
  • Foot: both
  • Value: €11.25M

In FM17, Werner has that unique ability of rounding the keeper before scoring. He’s both feet are strong on the ball, which is an advantage to any striker. As it is in the new game, he’s good in both wings, but more active when playing at the left flank. His acceleration and pace are stunning, which makes him dangerous while cutting from the left. However, giving him the role of Advanced Forward is perfect for him.

The Bulls may listen to bids in the next season, so it’s unlike that they will sell him in the starting game because he just joined the club. The value of Werner isn’t that high, so it may be a perfect choice for you to get the best with such a price.

10) Munir El Haddadi

FM17 Profile Screenshot of Munir
FM17 Profile Screenshot of Munir
  • Born (age): Sept 1, 1995 (21)
  • Nationality: Spain
  • Club: Valencia CF (on loan from Barcelona)
  • Position: ST(C), LW, RW
  • Foot: left
  • Value: €5.25M

Looking for one of the best young Trequartista, Munir proves to be class in that role. His Technique and Off The Ball attributes are quite advantageous. He’s a resolute young attacker capable of playing both wings, but taking him to the right is perfect. Moreover, he adapts quickly in any first team and also develops very fast.

Since he’s on loan at Valencia, you can’t get him until next season. But offering Barcelona a good bid while he’s with The Oranges may give you a better chance of getting him once the loan expires. He won’t be a regrettable choice.

signed Mauro Icardi for Tottenham in my second season for just 35 million pounds to give Harry Kane competition, finished his first year with 20 goals and 8 assists in all competitions, which for a rotation option is fantastic, considering Kane scored 20 as well. What a player.
