"Battlefleet Gothic: Armada II" - Chaos Escorts [Advanced Ship Guide]
The Chaos escorts, like all the ships of the Chaos faction, are based off ancient Imperial counterparts from long ago when the original betrayals of mankind occurred. Since corrupted beyond recognition by the powers of the warp, the Chaos vessels still retain some base stats from their original vessels. Namely they come from a time of faster engines and weaker armor in the Imperial Navy, or whatever it existed as at the time.
The Destroyer and Raider (Frigates basically) class vessels begin to show this with speeds just slightly above their comparable Imperial Navy vessels. Like their counterparts, they field lances, torpedoes and their own version of macro guns, the missile weapons, which are actually affected by the same accuracy penalties as they don't home unfortunately.

This section briefly covers the advanced weapon data you will find for each ship. These values are calculated based off the base weapons stats and are explained as follows:
DPS - Damage Per Second - The total damage output per weapon type (all guns combined) per second, assuming 100% of shots land, before considering armor penalties.
Crits Pm - Critical Hits Per Minute - Assuming all shots land, this will be the average number of critical hit's the guns will cause every minute before modifiers. (all guns combined)
Salvos PM - Salvos Per Minute - The total number of combined waves of fire, not including multiple rounds fired from the same weapon.
Rounds PM - The actual number of shots or individual projectiles fired each minute from all guns combined.
Chaos Raider & Destroyer Stats
The Chaos Raider and Destroyer small vessels, are comparable to their Imperial Navy counterparts, slightly faster in return for doing a little less damage. What is interesting is the fact that the Chaos get a Destroyer that deals pretty decent damage for its size.

Chaos Raider & Destroyer Attributes & Skills
The Chaos ships are pretty basic all the way through their ship classes as far as it comes to special Attributes and Skills.
Plasma Reactor: Gives access to High Energy Turn, All Ahead Full and Burn Retros.
Dedicated: No bravery bonus or penalty.
Escort: No access to assault skills.
Scanner: Reveals enemy ships in 13,000 units and marks them for 30 seconds, keeping them visible.

- 6 x Light Missile Turrets
For a cheap, tiny and fast destroyer, the Iconoclast does good direct damage on top of that. An interesting twist considering that the smaller Destroyer sized vessels of the Imperial factions all have only a single turret, if that, and torpedoes as a special weapon. For the Chaos, their Frigate, the Infidel, carries the torpedoes into battle.
Iconoclasts are an affordable harassing ship. A real pain to your enemy when kept on stealth while they bombard from long range with their light missiles. It should be noted, while you may think otherwise considering the name, the missiles are comparable to macros in that they have an accuracy falloff with range, plus their flight time means they can be dodged beyond that.

Basic Dumbfire Charges

Since the Chaos decided to put their torpedo launchers on a Frigate (or Raider as the Chaos refer to them as) instead of a Destroyer, the Infidel gets to bring a second turret into the fight, which may not sound like much, but when its half the direct damage it deals as a vessel, it makes a difference.
Since the Chaos ships are naturally faster than the Imperials, the Infidel actually has the same speed as the Cobra does with that extra turret, better defenses and twice the hull. Unfortunately the Chaos do not have any special torpedo charges to bring into the fight, so Cobras and Hunters still have the upper hand in that regard.

100% Accuracy, Pierces Armor
Like the Imperials, the Chaos have their compulsory lance carrying vessels and the Idolator is that vessel for their small escort ship class. Normally a lance variant has lower raw dps in return for getting the special benefits of the lance itself, but the Idolator actually ties for the top place of raw dps and actually gets the highest crits per minute, being just 3 points more than the cheapest ship, the Iconoclast.
Because the Idolator's lance can never miss and it pierces armor, it actually means the final dps and cpm is likely to be the highest of it's class in all situations, since even if the Iconoclast is hitting 100% of the time, it still doesn't get to pierce armor.
These are probably the best ship in the Raider or Destroyer category as far as the value you get for your money, however be aware that unlike the other two, the Idolator is locked into a 90 degree front arc to fully utilize those direct fire weapons, making it less capable of dodging when using its dps/cpm optimal head-on attack orders.
