Tau Protector Fleet Battleships
The Custodian Battleship is the one true Tau Protector vessel in this weight class, the other two available ships being the allied vessels, found separately in their own section below. This has been done to prevent redundancy, since they are available to both the Merchant and Protector fleets.
As far as the Custodian goes, it is an immense warship compared to the other Protector vessels, bristling with weaponry and escorted by a trio of Warden destroyers thanks to its Gravitic hooks. Unfortunately due to it's equally immense cost, it is difficult to field more than one in a Tau Protector fleet, but just the one is highly capable vessel in its own right.

This section briefly covers the advanced weapon data you will find for each ship. These values are calculated based off the base weapons stats and are explained as follows:
DPS - Damage Per Second - The total damage output per weapon type (all guns combined) per second, assuming 100% of shots land, before considering armor penalties.
Crits Pm - Critical Hits Per Minute - Assuming all shots land, this will be the average number of critical hit's the guns will cause every minute before modifiers. (all guns combined)
Salvos PM - Salvos Per Minute - The total number of combined waves of fire, not including multiple rounds fired from the same weapon.
Rounds PM - The actual number of shots or individual projectiles fired each minute from all guns combined.
Tau Protector Fleet Battleships Stats
The Custodian Battleship gets the typical 2,000 hull points for a ship of its size while sitting in the mid/high end of engine speeds stat wise. The boarding damage is pretty decent, but it's not much of a strong suit of the Tau faction, more being a reliable fallback should things get up close and messy. This is generally a situation you want to avoid if you can.

Tau Protector Fleet Battleships Attributes
The Battleship class finally gets a few extra attributes to give it some flavor apart from he rest of the Tau protector fleet, namely a buff giving increased defense turret efficiency to all allied ships in a fairly decent range of 9,000 units. The boarding range upgrade helps give the Custodian some morale/crit potential with it's assaults without forcing it into non-optimal ranges.
Gravitic Drive Propulsion: Grants Tau maneuvers.
Adaptive Deflector: Has 83 prow armor as long as generator is active.
Independent: -25 Bravery penalty.
Warfare: Benefits from Tau Warfare selected at beginning of battle.
No Lightning Strike: Cannot be given back by any upgrades.
Average Troop Efficiency: Deals 1-2 troop damage per assault action.
Planned Strike: 30% chance to deal +1 troop damage per assault action.
Low Maneuverability: Cannot perform High Energy Turn.
Advanced Targeting systems: +5% Defense turret accuracy for ship and friendlies in 9,000 units.
Improved Boarding Action Range: +4,500 units to boarding range.

Each Gravitic Hook brings an additional Warden escort ship.

The Custodian doesn't have the most impressive on paper numbers when compared to the other line ships of the fleet, coming just barely ahead of ships half it's cost, however supplements this with a full 8 rack of homing Torpedoes and 4 more Launch Bays than you can find on any other vessel. Finally you get a trio of Warden destroyers, which when you account for their cost actually brings the true point cost of the custodian to 391 points as seen above.
As far as Launch Bay efficiency goes, when you take away the cost of the wardens, the Custodian becomes the most efficient carrier platform at 65.2 points per bay, but jumps up to 83.7 when you calculate based on the true cost of the ship and the fact you cant choose to not take the Wardens to lower the cost. This still makes it the most efficient Carrier platform overall however, since the next closest competitor is the Cruisers at 99 points roughly or the Light Cruiser, "Emissary" Dal'Yth which only goes down to 80.5 points per bay if you remove the cost of it's two Wardens.
It has been mentioned above, but the buffing ability of the Custodian serves its namesake well as a flagship designed to sit in the middle of the tau fleet lobbing large amounts of fire from within its battle group while it supplements the effectiveness of the fleet's defensive turrets, hampering the abilities of carrier focused players.
