How to Beat Pandemic 2 (II) Strategy

Updated on August 26, 2012

The Search For an Answer

I searched all over the internet and I could not find a suitable answer to this question. Therefor I have played the game and fine tuned all the different options to see what actually works and how to infect hard to reach places like Madagascar and New Zealand. I have puts hours of research into this so I hope it proves helpful.

Pandemic 2

Pandemic two is described by it's creators as follows,

"Select your preferred life form to spread disease. Then infect everyone! Upgrade with delightful symptoms like vomiting, delirium and open sores. Yum, yum! "

That is the only description they offer, they offer no strategies beyound that. There is a small tutorial that serves the purpose of leaving you feeling alone and abandoned in a world that needs to be overrun by disease.

The Best Answer I Had Found Online!

My guide is continued farther down the page.

This is a quote from Yahoo Answers.

" I went with parasite, and kept restarting the game in realistic mode until I had a couple of traits under my belt (durable is a personal fav, and pretty common) and my starting symptom was fever. I think I started in Cuba.

I sold my symptom, and bought drug resistance 1 & 2. Then I concentrated my DNA pts on moisture resistance and cold resistance. Once I got those to level 3, I started buying heat resistance.

All this time, I did not have anything for transmission. I waited until every country was infected (yep, even got Madagascar). In fact, Madagascar wasn't even the last to get infected! They kept their ports open for a while.

Once everyone was infected, I finished putting points on resistances, and started in on transmission. Around this time my disease became famous (ooooh) and they started working on a vaccine. Since most of the hospitals are shut down, and my drug resistance is maxed out, I have about 400+ days to hang out and infect people. I also *just* bought vomiting. There's lots of reasons to puke, and it makes the disease really contagious, so it's made the poor researchers' jobs just a little bit harder.

I'm still playing this particular game, but once I have my transmission vectors maxed I'm going to start buying the more lethal symptoms. Since the researchers are so flummoxed, I'm hoping to have enough time. Or that the vaccine will make my parasite resistant to any further attempts (had that happen on an earlier game).

Hope this helps!

update: this seems to have worked! All the hospitals are shut down, so the vaccine development is on infinite. Everyone's infected and gonna die!"

Some of these suggestions work, some don't this is the best description I was able to find online.

First Tips

There are a few things that are rather obvious to do at the start.

Firstly, you want to keep visibility to a minimum, you can easily do this by not buying symptoms that increase it. Don't forget you can sell those that you already have to lower visibility.

Secondly, avoid causing mass panic. You want to slowly spread around the world with only a fever or cough. This will prevent most ports and airports from closing. Once they close you are done for island nations like New Zealand and Madagascar.

Thirdly, try to use rodents and insects at the start to spread. This will take a long time but Air and water cause a lot of panic and will start a vacination effort.

Fourth, Spread EVERYWHERE before you attempt to start killing people!

Fifth, I would recommend restarting until you get a start point in Madagascar as it seems nearly impossible to spread there!

The Symptoms.

Level 1

Sneezing, Buy 3 Sell 1

A sneeze is a sudden, forceful, involuntary burst of air through the nose and mouth.

Coughing, Buy 3 Sell 4

Fever, Buy 5 Sell 3

Fever is the temporary increase in the body's temperature, in response to some disease or illness.

Sweating, Buy 2 Sell 3

Sweating is the release of a salty liquid from the body's sweat glands. This process is also called perspiration.

Level 2

Fatigue, Buy 3 Sell 6

Fatigue is a feeling of weariness, tiredness, or lack of energy.

Diarrhea, Buy 8 Sell 4

Diarrhea is loose, watery, and frequent stool. Diarrhea is considered chronic (long-term) when you have had loose or frequent stools for more than 4 weeks.

Nausea, Buy 3 Sell 6

Nausea is the sensation of having an urge to vomit. Vomiting is forcing the contents of the stomach up through the esophagus and out of the mouth.

Pulmonary Edema, Buy 9 Sell 5

Liver Failure, Buy 20 Sell 10

Heartfailure, Buy 24 Sell 12

Blindness, Buy 4 Sell 10

Hypotonia, Buy 4 Sell 8

Encephalitis, Buy 21 Sell 12

Encephalitis is acute inflammation of the brain. Brain damage occurs as the brain pushes against the skull, and eventually results in death.

Natural Disasters!

Earthquakes Earthquakes greatly reduce the effectiveness of hospitals in the region.

Floods Floods temporarily boost exposure to your disease if your disease is able to spread via water.

Hurricanes Hurricanes temporarily close airports due to high winds. Also temporarily closes schools and transit.

Drought Droughts increase insect population, and boosts exposure to your disease if it is spreadable by insects.

Riots Riots negate the effects of curfews.

Last Suggestions

Do not get discouraged. You can beat this game it just takes some persistance.

You need to focus a LOT on keeping visibility low, if not you will end up closing ports and airports that will NOT reopen, ever. Seems the world is so scared they close down for good, which I would say would be as good as being turned into the zombies everyone else is.

Keep symptoms very low, your goal is to infect every Country then start spreading it like wild fire. Play it down to a small cough or fever like the swine flu and you will beat Pandemic 2. If you all the sudden throw out a killer highly lethal cancer like disease then everyone will react right away and shut you down!

So, what we have learned. Use weaker symtoms until every country is infected. Then spread it faster, then make it lethal, keep it low visibility and use bacteria! Those are all the things you need to know to beat Pandemic II!

        Also a good way.

        1. Do Realistic and Virus

        2. Buy all tier 1 traits (this should help to very quickly infect your country and others).

        3. Max out all resistance

        4. Buy all transmission thingamijigs.

        5. Slowly wait for more evolution points and unlock other tiers and symptoms.

        6. End the world!!!!!!!!!!
