Moving up to the Poker Star league works a bit differently. Only the top 25 Elite 3 players get to move up to this league.

This includes everybody who is currently playing in an Elite 3 league.

How Do Poker Stars Play Leagues Work?

Every seven days, a new league starts. Leagues have 100 spots.

You move up in spots in leagues by winning chips. Your league progress is based on many chips you win overall and not based on if you earn more chips.

There are three zones. The zones are the promotion, safe, and demotion zones. For simplicity, I will refer to these zones as the green, yellow, and red zones.

  • If you are in the red zone, you will drop to the next league.
  • If you are in the yellow zone, you stay in your current league.
  • If you are in the green zone, you move up to the next league.

What is Fast Track?

If you win enough chips, you can instantly move up to the next league. You can do this twice a league.

So if you can win a lot of chips, you can make a huge amount of progress in each league.

Why Care About the Leagues?

Playing in leagues is a sign of poker skill! Being able to get into the Poker Stars league would be amazing!

To move up in leagues and to stay in league spots requires a commitment to poker. I respect that a lot.

But maybe you don’t care about such things? There still are reasons for you to play in leagues every week.

At the end of every league, you are given a small bonus in chips.

So even if you don’t care about winning leagues, I would make sure to claim your bonus at the end of each league.

How to Win More Chips in Leagues

You need to play a lot of poker. Only by playing many hands do you give yourself more chances to win chips.

You should also play the highest stakes you think is safe to play. By playing higher stakes, you will win more chips.

Also, try to fast track as much as possible. When in the Starter and Novice leagues, it is quite easy to skip some of these leagues by using fast track.
